Celtic v Hapoel Beer Sheva (19:45)

Celtic make three changes from their last competitive match against Motherwell a week ago. Kolo Toure comes in for Saidy Janko, with Mikael Lustig returning to right-back. Kieran Tierney replaces Emilio Izaguirre at left-back, and Leigh Griffiths returns up front, with Moussa Dembele dropping to the bench.

The substitutes also include centre-back Erik Sviatchenko (below), who makes his return to action after a hamstring injury.

  2. Can Irish side Dundalk reach group stage?published at 19:12 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

Dundalk v Legia Warsaw (19:45 KO)

Talking of Legia Warsaw (19:04 entry), we’ll also be keeping you up to date with how Dundalk are doing tonight in their own play-off first leg.

The League of Ireland champions are aiming to become the first Irish side to reach the Champions League group stages, and host the Poles in the rather grand surrounds of Dublin’s Aviva Stadium.

Dundalk are managed by Stephen Kenny, who Scottish football fans may remember from his year in charge of Dunfermline, from 2006-2007.

  4. Get Involved - get the drinks inpublished at 19:07 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

Celtic v Hapoel Beer Sheva (19:45)

Now, before we get into the serious stuff, we couldn’t help but notice the name of Celtic’s opponents tonight contains a rather popular beverage.

Seems like a decent excuse to see what other teams or players you can come up with – genuine or otherwise, puns most welcome – containing a drink of some description.

Tweet @bbcsportscotland using the hashtag #bbcsportscot or go to the BBC Scotland Sport Facebook page, external - and let’s see if we can come up with a 'Drinks 11’ by half-time.

I’ll start us off with Bitter Jerusalem. Managed by Lars Lagerback. Groan.

Memories of those defeats at this stage against Legia Warsaw (before the Poles were punished for fielding an ineligible player, and Celtic given a reprieve), Maribor and Malmo should serve as warning enough for fans heading to Celtic Park on a warm (seriously, it’s 20C+) Glasgow evening.

If not, a bit of background on tonight’s opponents may suffice.

The Israelis won a surprise first title in 40 years last season and have been likened to Leicester City for the manner in which they shook up the ‘big four’ clubs in their domestic league.

  6. Big night in Glasgowpublished at 19:01 British Summer Time 17 August 2016

Celtic v Hapoel Beer Sheva (19:45 BST)

Four weeks from now, Celtic could be mixing it with some of Europe’s elite clubs when the group stages of the Champions League get under way.

Alternatively, the Scottish champions could be preparing for another Europa League campaign, having failed to make it past the final Champions League play-off round for a third season in a row.

So events in the east end of Glasgow tonight could have a major bearing on how the rest of Celtic’s season shapes up. And perhaps how long the feel-good factor surrounding new manager Brendan Rodgers lasts…
