    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland are playing with a little more intent here.

Duncan Watmore carries them forward with some direct running down the left on this occasion before finding the dangerous Jermain Defoe.

Defoe skips one challenge in the box and finds space for a shot, but it's blocked and bundled away by the hosts.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Dimitri Payet thinks he's fouled on the edge of the box after nipping the ball away from Lamine Kone before tumbling over his own footing.

Payet gets it back to the left of the Sunderland box and whips a cross to the back post where Jordan Pickford outleaps Michail Antonio to remove the danger for the visitors.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland are looking the better after the break.

Whabi Khazri drives a cross from the right into Jermain Defoe and the former England international doesn't need a second invitation to shoot on goal, but his right-footed effort dips over Adrian's crossbar.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Great chance for Sunderland at the start of this second half as Whabi Khazri is gifted possession on the edge of the West Ham box.

He has time to pick his spot when one-on-one with Adrian, but the goalkeeper saves a somewhat tame right-footed shot.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Jermain Defoe is Sunderland's top scorer with four goals so far this season.

They say he only needs half a chance to find the net...but even the former England international struggles when he only gets one touch in the opposition area in a half of football.

  10. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Not too much to shout about from either side after a promising West Ham start saw Dimitri Payet strike the post. It's goalless at the break.

Edimilson Fernandes is down as a left wing-back on the West Ham team sheet but picks up the ball in the centre forward position.

His shot is blocked but the ball finds its way back out to the youngster in a more familiar left-sided position, where he teases a cross towards Simone Zaza.

It's headed up over Zaza's shoulder, but that doesn't stop the Italian performing some acrobatics as he swivels and attempts an overhead kick that drops just wide of Jordan Pickford's far post.

Nice footwork again from Duncan Watmore, he is finding space around the edge of the West Ham box and this time clips a deft little pass to Patrick van Aanholt.

The full-back runs towards the byline and looks for Jermain Defoe in the box, but the cross is cut out by Winston Reid.

  13. YELLOW CARD - Pienaarpublished at 15:40 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

It's a bit scrappy in the middle as Steven Pienaar drags down Edimilson Fernandes to find himself in the book.

  14. Postpublished at 15:39 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

This is much better from the visitors as Patrick van Aanholt cuts in off the left flank to capitalise on some neat touches from Steven Pienaar and Whabi Khazri to collect the ball on the edge of the box.

The left-back winds up his right foot, but skews a shot off target.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

That's good feet from Duncan Watmore on the edge of the West Ham box before he slides a pass through to Steven Pienaar.

The former Everton and Tottenham man takes it on his left foot but a low ball into the area is collected by Adrian.

Sunderland maintain a brief spell of pressure though, with Jermain Defoe winning the ball back on the edge of the box and fashioning the Black Cats' first shot on target. Easy save for Adrian.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

A disappointing free-kick from Patrick van Aanholt is struck low into the wall, but West Ham can't clear and the visitors get another free-kick on their left.

Whabi Khazri whips it and finds the onrushing Jack Rodwell, who heads well over Adrian's crossbar.

  17. YELLOW CARD - Fernandespublished at 15:31 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Javier Manquillo gets in behind Edimilson Fernandes and is dragged down by the 20-year-old Swiss on the edge of the box. Chance for Sunderland.

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland again look for Whabi Khazri, who this time collects the ball on the right and drives towards the West Ham box before pulling a pass back in the area only to find he has no support.

A little better from Sunderland though as Patrick van Aanholt then clips a pass in to Jermain Defoe, but his first sniff of goal is well shut down by the Hammers' back three.

  19. CLOSE!published at 15:27 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

It's all West Ham and at the heart of everything good they do is Dimitri Payet.

He finds space through a mass of defenders on the edge of the box to fire a low, right-footed shot on goal but it bounces back off the post.

  20. Postpublished at 15:25 British Summer Time 22 October 2016

    West Ham 0-0 Sunderland

Sunderland's main threat seems to be to go direct into Whabi Khazri, but the nippy winger can't quite reach a long Jack Rodwell pass.

West Ham then spring quickly into a counter attack and it's Edimilson Fernandes who again fancies his chances from long range, with a right-footed shot deflecting over Jordan Pickford's crossbar.
