What a story this would be.

The Daily Mirror's back page suggests Manchester United and England captain Wayne Rooney could be heading back to where it all began - to first club Everton.

It comes after Toffees boss Ronald Koeman yesterday said he "was very pleased" at the speculation linking Rooney, 31, with a move back to Goodison Park.

"I think he is a great player, and he has still not finished his career," added Koeman. "Even when we get one time the possibility that Rooney is an option for Everton, I'm very pleased."
