Van Aanholt didn't know that Sanchez was behind him - I'm struggling to understand how he didn't know though because there was 30,000 people telling him as much.

  5. CLOSE!published at 28 mins

    Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal

Patrick van Aanholt is 30 yards from the Arsenal goal but dithers on the ball, losing possession with the visitors breaking at a frightening pace.

The counter-attack move ends with the Alex Iwobi having a chance, and he powerfully curls an effort at goal, but it nips just over the crossbar. So nearly 2-0 to the Arsenal.

  7. Sanchez the best player on the pitchpublished at 26 mins

It's fitting that Sanchez got the goal, I think he's been the best player on the pitch so far.

He isn't actually playing as a number nine, he's dropping back and playing as a number ten at times as well. He's an absolute nightmare for the central defenders right now.

  8. CLOSE!published at 24 mins

    Sunderland 0-1 Arsenal

Sunderland have only just gone behind but have a quick chance to get things back level. Patrick van Aanholt gets a free-kick from 25 yards out and curls it over the wall, but it goes just wide of the post.

That Arsenal goal by the way came at the end of a 22-pass move from the Gunners. A brilliant-worked goal, skillfully executed by Sanchez. Definitely one to make sure you see on Match of the Day later on.

It has been coming without a shadow of a doubt.

Bellerin's understanding down that right side is unbelievable.

Sanchez is four inches smaller than Kone who is supposedly marking him - Arsenal fans will be saying "who needs Olivier Giroud?"

    That is a fantastic header.

    Alexis Sanchez (19 mins)

A lovely move from Arsenal and a lovely diving header from Alexis Sanchez puts the Gunners ahead.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain skins his marker Duncan Watmore on the right-hand side and his excellent cross finds Sanchez, who gets in front of Lamine Kone and flings himself towards the ball.

The diving header is perfect and he buries it from eight yards out past Jordan Pickford.

The pass from Sanchez, from up here, may look easy. But to pick that out with so many defenders around, that's a pass that even Santi Cazorla would be happy with, and that's high praise indeed.

That's the moment of the match so far.

  15. GOOD SAVE!published at 12 mins

    Sunderland 0-0 Arsenal

Sunderland are sliced open far too easily, and only a weak finish from Mesut Ozil lets them off the hook.

Hector Bellerin is causing problems on the right side and he finds Alexis Sanchez, who in turns releases Mesut Ozil and he is free on the top right-hand side of the penalty area.

But Ozil opts for precision instead of power and the side-footed effort is well held by Jordan Pickford.

Stu Richards: On paper this should be a routine three points for the Gooners but hideous away strips seldom prosper in the beautiful game.

Solid logic from Stu there. Get your money on Sunderland, punters.

A whipped in corner from the left wing from Mohamed Elneny causing panic in the home defence, who scramble it away for another corner.

Mesut Ozil floats in a set-piece in from the other side, but it is too close to Jordan Pickford who gathers easily.

Some strong defending from John O'Shea.

Obviously John O'Shea is terrified of Alexis Sanchez getting behind the defence and turning it into a foot race.

I have no idea how that wasn't given as a foul, that was a rugby challenge.

A half chance for Sunderland as Billy Jones, overlapping from right-back position, gets a cross in from the dead-ball line, but Petr Cech is a commanding presence in the Gunners goal and gathers well to end the danger.

    Sunderland 0-0 Arsenal

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain got two goals in the 2-0 midweek EFL Cup win over Reading and nearly gets a goal inside the first five minutes.

Hector Bellerin's deep cross finds Oxlade-Chamberlain, who manages to get in a header in between two Sunderland defenders. The ball is looping in until Jordan Pickford pushes it out for a corner, which comes to nothing.
