    Leicester 1-0 Copenhagen

Finally a bit of relief for the Leicester defence, who'd been pegged back by Copenhagen's all-white pretty much since the break.

Jamie Vardy trots into space, he's way out from goal but still has a pop... Deflected wide for a corner.

Looking back at that earlier Javier Hernandez chance too, it really is incredible he didn't score. There's two things I don't understand. Not just the physics behind Hugo Lloris' brilliant save to scramble the ball off the line, but also: why on earth didn't the Mexico international aim for the huge empty space to the keeper's left?

Tottenham were completely taking over the game before half time, I was almost writing Leverkusen off.

But they have come out with the right attitude and unfortunately for Spurs, their players haven't.

    Leverkusen 0-0 Tottenham

Another fine save from Hugo Lloris, who's having a very busy spell. He tips Charles Aranguiz's powerful and low free-kick wide of the post. Excellent stop.

Then it's Danny Rose to the rescue, the left-back popping up to head a Javier Hernandez volley over the bar!

Tottenham really are living on borrowed time here...

    Leicester 1-0 Copenhagen

As it stands, Leicester are on course to end this evening with more points in the Champions League than they have in defence of their Premier League title...

    Leverkusen 0-0 Tottenham

What a start to the second half. So full of action there's a substitution I still haven't told you about: Leverkusen's Hakan Calhanoglu came off at the break, replaced by Julian Baumgartlinger.

    Talk about impact...

  7. CLOSE!published at 52 mins

    Leicester 1-0 Copenhagen

Riyad Mahrez with a brilliant break down the right, setting Andy King free inside the box. The Welshman evades one defender with some nifty footwork and sets up Danny Drinkwater, who misses a chance to double his team's advantage.

I cannot believe he has missed it, he was two yards out but Hernandez believes it has gone over the line.

The only man that can make that call is the referee, the extra official can't see it.

The ball was three-quarters over the line.

What? Surely this is a goal?? It's Javier Hernandez again, sliding in at the back post he flicks the ball - surely over the line - as a quick cross catches out the Spurs back four.

But no! Somehow, Hugo Lloris has managed to swirl himself into making an incredible save, clawing the ball back from peril. Hernandez is so convinced it's a goal he's still appealing to the assistant referee - anyone who will listen.

But the replays show, this isn't luck, this isn't a mistake. This is a fine, fine save.

    That is a close one.

Lloris got there first but was he tripped by Hernandez?

If he was, it was the faintest touch.

Hang on. What now!? This is a huge let off for Spurs by the looks of it.

Hugo Lloris comes rushing out of his net and looks to have totally missed his clearance, Javier Hernandez fires into the empty net - but the referee calls it back, sparing all kinds of blushes. A foul on the Spurs keeper by the former Manchester United man? If it was it was a soft one...

    Leicester 1-0 Copenhagen

Leicester are flying away at the top of Group G, five points clear of Copenhagen as it stands. And with Porto losing 1-0 at Club Brugge, that puts them six points clear of the third-placed Belgians. For now.

So with CSKA Moscow beating Monaco, there's one point separating top from bottom in Tottenham's group. All to play for in Group E, with Spurs down to third as it stands.

No sign of the century yet tonight. Cristiano Ronaldo went close with a free-kick, forcing a save, but that's as good as it has got for him personally as Real Madrid lead Legia Warsaw 3-1.

Up until the goal Leicester were too predictable.

They hadn't posed many problems and Copenhagen were the better side but Leicester won't be complaining.

Not a great first-half display from Leicester City but what a vital goal from Riyad Mahrez just before half-time.

The Foxes had been predictable, disjointed and anxious but now they have a platform to try and secure a win that would be a giant step towards the Champions League knockout stage.
