    Southampton 0-0 Hapoel Beer Sheva

Southampton threatening a little more now. Shane Long harries the Hapoel defence to win a corner, sparking a flurry of set-pieces.

Saints winning 6-0 in the corners column. They'd settle for one in the column that really matters...

Back up the other end... And now it is Saints who go close. Virgil van Dijk having a shot blocked after a home set-piece.

Imagine if former Portsmouth striker Ben Sahar scored the goal which puts Southampton out of Europe? Would go down as well as a stinkbomb in a lift.

Sahar, who didn't actually play for Pompey in a six-month loan spell back in 2008, has a shot superbly blocked by Maya Yoshida.

Saints straight on the front foot inside the opening 30 seconds. Josh Sims hooks into the Hapoel penalty area from the right edge, but Steven Davis' outstretched leg can't turn the ball goalwards.

    Inter Milan 1-0 Sparta Prague

Inter Milan striker Eder has his second goal of the season in what is his 18th club outing. They lead Sparta Prague 1-0 but will still finish bottom of Southampton's group. How depressing - the once great Inter Milan bottom of a Europa League group.

The only thing worse is Rodrigo Palacio's hairstyle. Dear me.

Christian Strange: Near 3hr drive to the saints game. Son slept in car on the way. I should have followed his lead methinks.

Not for the first time tonight we have seen an object end up on the pitch after being lit in the stands.

Manchester United keeper Sergio Romero jumped out of his skin when a fire cracker landed in his goal mouth and this image shows a flare on the pitch at Standard Liege.

Ajax lead there 1-0 courtesy of Anwar El-Ghazi's goal.

    Go get yourself a cuppa.

Hardly a classic but, as it stands (the three most important words in football), Saints are going through to the last 32.

Nathan Redmond is sizing this one up. He stands over the ball like Owen Farrell, eyeing up the ball and then picturing where he is going to smash it.

Unfortunately he doesn't smash it. He fails to connect cleanly and the ball dribbles straight into David Goresh's hands.

Oh hang on... Saints sub Shane Long wins a free-kick about 30 yards out from the Hapoel goal...

  13. INJURY TIMEpublished at 45 mins

    Southampton 0-0 Hapoel Beer Sheva

How much time before the home fans can run downstairs for a pie? Another two minutes. Don't bother waiting, you won't miss anything.

The longer this stays 0-0 the more Hapoel will fancy their chances of nabbing a goal.

  15. Postpublished at 43 mins

    Southampton 0-0 Hapoel Beer Sheva

Josh Sims knocks a high cross to the far post where Nathan Redmond is waiting. But his header lacks power and direction, giving Hapoel keeper David Goresh an easy collection.

All gone a bit subdued at St Mary's now. Saints not dominating as easily as they were earlier.

Charlie Austin looks in serious pain. He's shouting "I'll be fine" to the Saints medical staff while also looking in almost as much agony as someone in labour.

Shane Long is told to warm up...

Saints win a corner seconds after that Nathan Redmond effort, with Charlie Austin meeting the delivery at the far post.

Ouch! The Saints striker has landed awkwardly though. Has his troublesome shoulder popped? Looks like it.

The closest we have been to the opener. Saints burst forward through Nathan Redmond, whose curling effort is pushed out by diving Hapoel keeper David Goresh's left hand.
