    Southampton 0-0 Hapoel Beer Sheva

Come on, man! Hapoel defender Ben Bitton goes down clutching his face after challenging a high ball with Charlie Austin. He's trying to con the ref here. Luckily Paolo Tagliavento is wise to it.

Saints boss Claude Puel is like a jack-in-the-box on the touchline. Doesn't know whether to sit down or bark out instructions from the touchline.

    Panathinaikos 0-1 Celta Vigo

Former Manchester City, Stoke and Celtic striker John Guidetti has netted a key goal for Celta Vigo. They lead at Panathinaikos in Group G, a result which would move them second behind Ajax, who are ahead at Standard Liege. All to play for.

Saints teenager Josh Sims had a dream debut against Everton the other week. Tonight has been a little quieter (so far). He tries to gallop on to Nathan Redmond's sliding pass, but the Hapoel defence read that like a book.

Go for the jugular, Dave. Sitting back is a dangerous game.

Nathan Redmond can shift. He sticks on the burners as the Hapoel defence backpedal to force him down the right flank. Oriou Romeu busts a gut to join him in support, Redmond's cross just over his shaven head. Chance.

Here's a ghost from Premier League years gone by. Ben Sahar. Remember him Chelsea fans?

He's up top for the away side and wins a free-kick on the left flank. But Maor Buzaglo's delivery is cleared by the home defence and Saints counter through Nathan Redmond...

A huge cheer from the home fans as Italian referee Paolo Tagliavento points towards the Hapoel penalty spot.

The problem is that he isn't pointing AT the spot. Charlie Austin was about two yards offside. Would have been the world's most generous penalty.

If this was an arm wrestle, Israeli leaders Hapoel would have pulled this bout back into the middle of the table.

The pace has gone slightly out of Southampton's play for a moment. And they are nearly punished. A cross from the left goes over five heads in the Southampton box and falls to Maor Buzaglo's feet in the right channel. The Israeli takes a touch then fires an arrowed drive inches over the crossbar.

Cedric Soares was busy from a defensive point of view in the opening 10 minutes - now is getting forward himself. His cross flicks off the head of Hapoel skipper Shir Tzedek, who is grateful to see the ball land in keeper David Goresh's grasp.

Ajax can enjoy a comfortable evening because they are through to the last 32 as Group G winners, but their opponents Standard Liege have all to play for.

Standard and Celta Vigo, who play bottom team Panathinaikos, both have six points. If they finish level on points they will have an equal head-to-head record and therefore be split on overall goal difference, followed by goals scored.

Meanwhile, Group I is neatly wrapped up with Schalke through as group winners and Krasnodar are certain of second place to join the German side in the last 32.

Hapoel have a Buzaglo in their team. Don't think he is related to Woking legend Tim.

Talking of lively - we see Josh Sims for the first time. The latest arrival off the Saints conveyor belt floats a right-wing cross into the box, Hapoel keeper David Goresh gathering at the second attempt.

A moment of slight concern for Southampton. A low cross is drilled into Fraser Forster's near post, the England keeper spilling the ball before Maya Yoshida boots clear.

Forster had a howler against Palace on Saturday - that has got to be his one for the season.

Meaningless? Terrible standard? No-one cares? Try telling the Southampton fans that the Europa League doesn't matter.

Or the Hapoel fans. About 1,500 have made the trek from Israel.

Apoel Nicosia progress to the last 32 as Group B winners. They beat Olympiacos 2-0 in a battle for first place, meaning the Greek side are through as runners up.

An Alexander Soderlund brace helped St Etienne beat Anderlecht 3-2 to clinch top spot in Group C, while Astra join Roma in progressing from Group E after a goalless draw in the game between the two.

Finally, Genk's game with Sassuolo was abandoned because of fog. Both Genk and Athletic Bilbao had already sealed their place in the last 32, with just top spot in Group F up for grabs. Athletic drew 1-1 with Rapid Vienna.
