This game's sub-plot would make a good documentary, if not quite the full film story.

Twenty six years ago, the late, great Johann Cruyff first encouraged, external a young Pep Guardiola to learn from his Barcelona team-mate Ronald Koeman, laying the foundations for his much admired football philosophies.

Now, as they meet for the first time as opposing coaches, will the mentor be able to outsmart his once very eager pupil? How very Star Wars!

It mostly depends on how their players perform of course, and whilst City should have the edge - especially at home - Koeman will feel that his can follow the Spurs example of how to beat them.

A game to have made Cruyff proud will do beautifully.

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola is the top of the managerial tree at the moment and everyone is looking up to him. But I don't think Everton boss Ronald Koeman is far behind him. I think Kevin de Bruyne is such a key player for City and you have to play him if he is available. He can make anything happen. his short passes are good, his long passes a good, he can get you a goal.

    Bournemouth v Hull (15:00 BST)

    John Roder
    Match of the Day commentator

Mike Phelan won the manager of the month award for August as Hull City started the season with two victories and now, quite rightly, he has been confirmed in the job.

Hull haven't won in the Premier League since August, but their past three matches were against Arsenal, Liverpool and Chelsea.

Now they have a run of fixtures against teams of a similar stature, starting with Bournemouth, who have recorded 1-0 victories in their past two home matches.

The Cherries are in good form, with just one defeat in their past five, and it may take something special from Hull to give Phelan extra reason for celebration.

On his day he's one of the very best strikers in the league. But is Man City away the sort of day that suits Romelu Lukaku?

Everton striker Romelu Lukaku is the kind of player who needs boundaries. I think you need to tell him what he needs to do. I think Ronald Koeman has told him to go and do his job or he's not playing in the team so there's a fear factor for him. You can't just let him float through the season.

West Brom v Tottenham (15:00 BST)

    Martin Keown

There is a feeling of excellence at Tottenham at the moment.

The new stadium is a new beginning for them and they have an outstanding manager.

They just missed out last year - Pochettino talked about their lack of mental toughness at the end but if he gets that right, who knows.

Let's not forget that Harry Kane is injured at the moment and they are still getting excellent results.

    Arsenal v Swansea (15:00 BST)

    Steve Wilson
    Match of the Day commentator

Bob Bradley's debut at the helm of a Premier League football club has been a long time coming.

The new Swansea boss has been linked with a host of jobs - most recently Hull City - since leaving the USMNT, external (Google it and weep if you're unfamiliar), and has finally got the chance he believes he deserves.

If he can halt Arsenal's five-game winning streak in the Premier League then it would be the perfect start for the man who came within a whisker of getting Le Havre promoted into the French top flight last season.

Mind you, Michael Laudrup, Garry Monk and Francesco Guidolin all enjoyed wins at the Emirates, so the bar has been set pretty high.

  10. 'Things look bleak for Sunderland'published at 13:46 British Summer Time 15 October 2016

    Stoke v Sunderland (15:00 BST)

    Dion Dublin
Former Leicester and Man Utd forward on Football Focus

I am concerned about Sunderland. I can't see where they are going to get their points from. I can't see them getting through it. They can score goals but their defence just looks leaky. I think Stoke can look back at last season, Mark Hughes can see they have beaten teams, that they have got good players. But I don't think you can make the same comparison with Sunderland.
