    Serie A round-up

There are three other games taking place in Serie A at the moment. Here are the half-time scores:

    Cagilari 1-0 Atalanta

    Crotone 1-0 Palermo

    Sassuolo 0-0 Genoa

Crotone, promoted from Serie B as runner-up last season, are without a point from their opening three matches, so that would be a very decent result if they could hold on to it. Their goalscorer is Marcello Trotta, once of Fulham, Wycombe, Watford, Brentford and Barnsley.

Let's bring you up to date with the weekend's Serie A results so far. Arkadiusz Milik came on as a substitute to score twice last night as Napoli beat Bologna 3-1 to go a point clear at the top, although they have played a game more than second-placed Juventus.

Lazio moved on to seven points, three off the lead, by defeating winless Pescara 3-0 in yesterday's other game.

In today's early Serie A kick off, Chievo scored twice in the final 10 minutes as they came from a goal down to win 2-1 at Udinese.

That was a proper old school Serie A match; it got very niggly at times. I wouldn't bet on it finishing 11 a side if it carries on in that manner.

    Torino 0-0 Empoli

A strong finish to the first half from Torino. Joe Hart has not had a save to make so far; his kicking has been variable, but he is halfway to a clean sheet.

Best effort of the first half. Torino forward Lucas Boye spins past his man, cuts in from the left and whips a shot towards the near post. Empoli keeper Lukasz Skorupski needs two strong hands to beat the shot away.

Four minutes of stoppage time to play. I'm surprised it's not more.

It's like an episode of Casualty out there at the moment. Bellusci's centre-back partner Andrea Costa is down on the turf now. He has to leave the field after treatment, with Federico Barba coming on as the visitors have to defend a corner. Barba gets his head to the ball and the danger passes.

Meanwhile, Lorenzo De Silvestri gets some running repairs to the head cut he suffered early on.

Booking for Giuseppe Bellusci, the Empoli centre-back on loan from Leeds, as he goes sliding in on Josef Martinez who is sent flying a good three feet into the air. As the yellow card is wafted in his face, Bellusci's look of indignation is truly a thing of wonder.

Torino are probing. The substitute left-back Antonio Barreca joins the attack, sliding in a cross that Lucas Boye, on the turn skies over the bar.

Before kick-off today, neither side had kept a clean sheet this season. The surprise so far is that neither have really looked like conceding yet.

Joel Obi pounces on an Empoli error and races down the left for Torino. He squares for Lucas Boye, 15 yards out, but the forward can't get his feet set, and the shot is tame and straight at the keeper.

Seconds later, Torino's former Empoli midfielder Mirko Valdifiori is booked needlessly for kicking the ball away after his team concede a free-kick. It's not high quality stuff this, it really isn't.

    Torino 0-0 Empoli

Torino left-back Cristian Molinaro is out of this one. The defender is down in agony on the edge of his own six-yard box - it is not clear if he has torn a muscle or if he injured himself in a collision with an opponent, but he has to leave on a stretcher. Antonio Barreca is on in his place; it's a straight swap.

But now the home side find their rhythm. Afriyie Acquah charges forward from midfield, slides a pass right for Iago Falque, then dives in to head the cross wide when well placed.

An awful kick out by Empoli keeper Lukasz Skorupski follows, and Josef Martinez has a run to goal, by slashes his shot wide of the near post.

Torino forward Lucas Boye goes into the book for silding into a challenge with no idea where he is going. He scythes down Empoli right-back Vincent Laurini.

    Torino 0-0 Empoli

A very odd Empoli move. Riccardo Saponara and Andres Tello exchange passes patiently on the edge of the penalty area. So far, so patient. Then Tello just slams an aimless cross-shot against Cristian Molinari, in the manner a man tiring of fixing a fiddly watch and deciding to hurl all the pieces on the floor. The ball strikes the defender's arm - but it's ball to arm - and Tello follows up by smashing the ball high over the bar from the right corner of the penalty area.

Joe Hart receives a back pass and tries to send a 30-yard ball towards Cristiano Molinaro. The ball sails over the Torino left-back's head and out for an Empoli throw. If Pep Guardiola is watching, he will not be impressed.

Attilio Lombardo, once of Sampdoria, Juventus and Crystal Palace, is leading operations on the touchline for Torino today.

Lombardo, who is Torino's assistant, is manning the technical area while manager Sinisa Mihajlovic serves a one-game ban for, in the words of the authorities, “challenging a refereeing decision” at Atalanta last weekend, then “violently kicking a half-full water bottle toward the bench”, then directing an “insulting expression” to the officials. That's some charge sheet.

De Silvestri has been patched up, without stitches, but now sporting a very fetching hairnet to keep a bandage in place.

Ouch. Torino right-back Lorenzo De Silvestri is in the wars, getting a cut to his shaven head as he gets caught by Daniele Croce's stray elbow. There didn't look to be any malice in the challenge - Croce's eyes were on the ball all the way - but at the very least, De Silvestri looks as if he might need stitches.

    Torino 0-0 Empoli

It's already getting niggly, this game. Empoli's Andres Tello clearly handles the ball as he tries to keep a crossfield pass in play. Torino left-back Cristian Molinaro, deeply unimpressed, has a little kick at his opponent, and is immediately surrounded by friend and foe alike, with Joe Hart one of the peacemakers. The referee sorts it out with a quick burst of whatever "Get over yourselves" is in Italian.

    Torino 0-0 Empoli

First goalkeeping howler of the day... is from Empoli's Lukasz Skorupski. His poor clearance is charged down, but the visitors have enough defenders around to get him out of trouble.

Seconds later, the Polish keeper makes amends, diving low to his left to turn aside Joel Obi's long-range effort. It's a Torino corner, but Empoli get it away. If I had to use one word to describe the opening six minutes, it would be 'lively'.
