There have been some excellent defensive performances for England but Lucy Bronze was solid, made two excellent recovery blocks and did nothing wrong. Going forward she gave them something else and did not get a pass wrong.
In the second half, England had the opportunity from Toni Duggan, it was chest at most but the referee thought it hit her hand. They showed patches of good play and when they play France again, they will feel mentally they can beat them.
These are the games they need to play, the likes of France, Spain and Netherlands. They will give them different problems and can play different personnel in those games to work out the problems.

England next face Spain on Tuesday before that early November draw for Euro 2017.
Steph Houghton leads a group huddle out on the pitch to talk through that draw.

A very useful evening for England.

Were England robbed there? Apparently the ball had gone out of play from the cross so it seems justice was indeed done.
Mark Sampson's side would have a job convincing that they deserved to win this one anyway. A draw against a good side is no bad thing though.

Six minutes added on - and England have the ball in the net! Toni Duggan shows her predatory side as she brings the ball down and lashes home but the referee had blown for handball. Duggan controlled that on the point of her shoulder. That looks harsh to me!

Toni Duggan gets two minutes of a friendly to add to her cap collection, she replaces Karen Carney.

France keeper Sarah Bouhaddi takes a whack to the face and needs some treatment. Blood means a new jersey too.
Wind this one up.

France keeper Sarah Bouhaddi comes out to sweep up and make a fine tackle on Nikita Parris. That's comfortable enough - but what is Karen Bardsley up to? She doesn't get a decision and boots the corner flag clean out of the ground.

Karen Carney is dispossessed and Eugenie Le Sommer fires off a shot which is, again, easy for Karen Bardsley to hang on to.

Into the final 15 minutes. Sandie Toletti, the France substitute, shoots from 20-odd yards but that's an easy save for Karen Bardsley.

What England have done better in the second half is pick up the second ball. They know they cannot win the first ball so picking up the second means they can move forward from an advanced position.

This has not been a classic. But here is a classic name for England - Alex Scott replaces Gemma Davison on the England right.

This is better from England, Karen Carney bursting through the middle and freeing Jordan Nobbs on the left. Nobbs cuts back on to her right foot and bends in a cross which France keeper Sarah Bouhaddi again juggles. DODGY KEEPER!

Nikita Parris runs in behind the France defence and looks to be in on goal but she hasn't timed her run properly and she's caught offside.

I think if I was an England player, I would want to test France goalkeeper Sarah Bouhaddi. She looks poor.
England women 0-0 France women
Sarah Bouhaddi in the France goal has a nervy moment as she comes to claim a deep cross and almost handles outside the area, but she actually judges it well to let go at the right time and clear downfield.

I would like to see England winger Gemma Davison further forward, she has pace and trickery and 9 times out of 10 will beat the full-back.
She will be able to show she can do that role if needed.
As a team, you need to play more international football, it is different to club level, it is a step up.
