Jill Scott powers down the right again and the ball goes through Karen Carney to Gemma Davison. Her low cross is dangerous but hacked clear, and France then counter well. The dangerous Eugenie Le Sommer is at the heart of it but Claire Lavogez can't find a blue shirt in the middle.

It is interesting about Gaetane Thiney, she was frozen out by the last France manager but the new one has brought her straight back in.

She is a talent and can make things happen for them.

France are growing in stature now, taking control of midfield. Kheira Hamraoui is a formidable presence in there.

Right on cue, Eugenie Le Sommer comes to life with a great touch and ball over the top to find Claire Lavogez in space. A good touch and she's in on goal - but it's poor and she's tackled. That's the danger France can possess though.

Striker Eugene Le Sommer is a real big-game player for France, it will be interesting to see how England captain Steph Houghton copes with her.

France have a lot of excellent players missing but they still have some excellent players in the team. There is experience and youth, they are very good attacking-wise but strong defensively too.

It will be a tough task for England but it is something they need and they will step up to it.

Eugenie Le Sommer starts tonight as well.

England haven't beaten the French in 42 years, but it's not long since their last meeting.

England slipped to defeat in their Women's World Cup opener against France last summer as Eugenie Le Sommer's strike proved the difference.

And at Euro 2013, the Lionesses exited the competition in Sweden following a 3-0 defeat to France.

    This is a real test.

Abba won Eurovision, Ceefax was launched (RIP), Muhammad Ali won the Rumble in the Jungle and McDonald's opened its first branch in the UK.

And England women beat France for the last time.

Abba have been and gone, Ceefax is sadly no more, even the Greatest himself is no longer with us. England are long overdue a win against their nearest continental rivals.

    Is tonight the night?
