England still rarely a threat up front so Mark Sampson makes a change, replacing Rachel Daly with Nikita Parris.

No sign of any imminent changes from England boss Mark Sampson. This is a friendly after all so I imagine we'll get some.

As soon as I say that Karen Bardsley makes an excellent save from Gaetane Thiney - but the flag was up!

England are shoddy in possession on the edge of their own area and it's worked out to Kheira Hamraoui on the edge of the area. Head down and smash it - but she drags her shot well wide of the target. For all of the French superiority, Karen Bardsley hasn't had a save to make.

At the other end France keeper Sarah Bouhaddi flaps at a cross and Jade Moore sidefoots over from range.

England come out to the strains of the music from 'The Dark Knight'. Dramatic stuff - and back under way...

Don't beat yourself up Kael, you're with us now and that's the main thing.

If England were managed by Jose Mourinho you wouldn't argue with that first-half display, Solid, steady, well drilled.

Just not very exciting. It's only half time though.

...only been watching for the past 10 mins online...England are soaking up the French attacks with excellent defence...real heart in what I've seen.

    Kael.

France in possession were very good but their final ball is lacking. England are solid defensively but need more going forward.

Harsh! Gemma Davison has the ball in a dangerous area for England, driving into the penalty area, and the referee blows for half-time bang on 45 minutes...

France's left winger Claire Lavogez has had so much ball in space tonight but she just can't find a team-mate with that final ball. Poor.

  14. CLOSE!published at 37 mins

The game opens up and France are denied an opener by brilliant defending from Lucy Bronze. Eugenie Le Sommer is slid through by Gaetane Thiney and looks certain to run in on goal, but Bronze eats up the turf to make a fine tackle.

England then counter with Karen Carney, and she is inches away from sending Rachel Daly in.

From left-back to striker? Maverick thinking. This game badly needs a spark.

I played with England's Rachel Daly at Leeds and Lincoln.

She was always a left-back so when she came into the England side as a striker I was surprised.

She has made that position her own now.

Possession-wise, France have dominated. They like that one and two touch quick passing but are lacking with their final touch.

Rachel Daly gets something to run on to at last, a nice ball around the corner but she's tackled superbly by France keeper Sarah Bouhaddi. The offside flag is belatedly raised.

Jill Scott gives the ball away tamely and she is bailed out by a great tackle from Jo Potter, France then win it back and Elise Bussaglia blazes over from long range.

England can't get up the pitch so far. Striker Rachel Daly, of the Houston Dash, is all alone up front.

Toni Duggan said this week that England can win Euro 2017, and she was rewarded with a place on the bench. Will Mark Sampson and his side lift some silverware?

I was so impressed by the way England adapted after seeing France set up a different way.

Even the ones who have come into position, they seem to know what they are doing.
