More chances for Burnley and again it's that man Sam Vokes in the thick of it. He gets away down the left channel and moves in on Steve Mandanda's goal.

This time the French goalkeeper does his job effectively, sticking out a left glove to deny Vokes' first effort and then did well to claw away the striker's follow-up.

A measure of redemption for the goalkeeper.

And right on cue Sam Vokes has another go at goal.

He gets the ball on the edge of the area and works a shooting chance but his effort goes just wide with Steve Mandanda scrambling.

In all the excitement earlier I neglected to 'big up' Sam Vokes' key part in Burnley's second goal.

It was his smart reverse pass from inside the centre circle that sent Johann Berg Gudmundsson through to double the hosts' lead.

A goal and an assist for Vokes. Good day so far for the Wales international.

Well we said at the outset that this game was probably going to deliver goals and so it has proved.

A flying start had the hosts in front through Sam Vokes inside 90 seconds, and their lead was doubled in the 14th minute when Johann Berg Gudmundsson drilled in with a little help from the flimsy wrists of Steve Mandanda.

Palace have had their chances but man-of-the-moment Tom Heaton looks in no mood to be beaten in the Burnley goal.

Good game so far and we have another 45 to come.

And yet again Palace go close. Benteke's towering header flashes just wide with Heaton at full stretch.

One of those days for the Eagles?

Another opening for Palace, another save by Tom Heaton.

Palace's approach play has been easy enough on the eye in this game and again they carve Burnley open with some incisive passing.

This time the ball comes to Christian Benteke but his shot is straight at Heaton.

It could so easily have been another for Burnley there.

Scott Arfield did well under pressure in the Palace area to flick the ball out to the unmarked Jeff Hendrick, who cut inside and fired in a low shot that Scott Dann did well to block.

    Danger averted for Palace.

  9. History offers hope for Palace?published at 15:37 Greenwich Mean Time 5 November 2016

Worth remembering that Palace's last league visit to Turf Moor in January 2015 ended in a 3-2 win after falling 2-0 behind.

I'm sure Palace fans are clinging to that memory. And it will also be on the minds of a few Burnley supporters too...

Better from the visitors. Andros Townsend swings over an inviting cross that Christian Benteke tries to get on the end of, but Ben Mee is there to bundle it out for a corner.

Moments later the ball breaks invitingly to Townsend on the edge of the area and he fires just over with a first-time effort.

If Palace are going to get back into this then chances like that simply have to go in.

Matt Lowton is having a good game at right-back for Burnley.

He's just whipped a peach of a delivery into the Palace area but Vokes couldn't get on the end of it.

Here's a graphic of the first Burnley goal. Great work by Matt Lowton. He played the initial pass out wide to Johann Berg Gudmundsson before making his way into the box, where his blocked shot led to Sam Vokes' opener.

Palace try to 'do a Burnley' with a quick break after the hosts' corner routine breaks down.

Sadly for the visitors Jason Puncheon's final pass into the area is gathered with ease by Tom Heaton.

With that the camera cuts to the touchline, where Palace boss Alan Pardew is wearing a face like thunder.

Burnley are enjoying themselves out there I think. They seem content to let Palace have plenty of possession and then hit on the break when they win it back.

Another such sequence of play sees them win a corner. Defour to take it....

Tom Heaton's impressive form will not be lost on interim England boss Gareth Southgate, who is here at the match today.

Tom Heaton's stock has surely never been higher.

Just moments after he made a great save to keep out Zaha's shot after a flowing Palace move, Burnley broke up the other end and Johann Berg Gudmundsson was there to double the lead with a low shot from 20 yards after a great assist from the middle of the park by Sam Vokes.

It's not a moment Palace goalkeeper Steve Mandanda will want to see again as the ball squirmed underneath him, bounced into the air and over the line to send Turf Moor into elation.

  17. GREAT SAVE!published at 14 mins

Heaton is there again to save for Palace, denying Zaha with a brilliant stop.

  18. YELLOW CARDpublished at 10 mins

Dean Marney - ever-present for Burnley this season - is very busy in the heart of the Clarets' midfield but he was a little too robust there, going in hard on Yohan Cabaye.

He's the first name into the referee's book.

It remains very open and Palace have forced Tom Heaton into action as they bid to get level.

Wilfried Zaha's ball into the centre was met with a first-time shot by Jason Puncheon, but Heaton - the hero for Burnley in last weekend's goalless draw at Old Trafford - gets down to make the stop.

Incredibly open start to this one and it's the hosts who have the lead through Sam Vokes after just two minutes.

Burnley broke quickly after a Palace corner came to nothing. Jeff Hendrick led the charge through midfield and the ball eventually made it out to Johann Berg Gudmundsson whose cross was hit low towards goal by Matthew Lowton.

The full-back's shot was saved by Steve Mandanda but Vokes was on hand to bundle the ball over the line.
