Arsenal go 1-0 up. On the corner count. Up go Laurent Koscielny and Shkodran Mustafi. Neither get near the ball, Granit Xhaka does but has his shirt - and the ball - ripped away from him by Jan Vertonghen. Remember when penalties were being given for shirt-pulling in August. Great days.

This is more like the swashbuckling Arsenal team we know. The Gunners pounce on the attack, Alexis Sanchez jabbing forward at the Spurs defence. He rolls in Alex Iwobi on his left shoulder, but the young winger's curled effort lacks punch. Meat and drink for Hugo Lloris.

When the ball comes over the top, Shkodran Mustafi seems to be planted to the ground. Harry Kane will regret missing his chance.

I don't think Tottenham can keep this tempo up, their full-backs look tired.

Problem for Kyle Walker. Problem for Tottenham. The England right-back is wincing, he needs a bit of treatment. A rub of the magic sponge and he's back on.

The tempo has dropped slightly in the past few minutes. Not surprisingly as there was more hustle and bustle than Oxford Circus.

Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger does not look a happy man in his technical area, spinning around with arms outstretched as Spurs enjoy a period of possession near the penalty box.

Pochettino will be the more satisfied manager so far because Spurs have imposed their game on Arsenal far more than the other way around.

Francis Coquelin thunders a 15-yard volley goalwards. Yes, Francis Coquelin. Unfortunately it cracks Theo Walcott and bumbles out for a goal-kick.

We're talking tactics in the BBC Sport office. Isn't it fascinating how certain formations are in vogue. Graham Taylor probably never thought he'd see the return of wing-backs.

Arsenal starting on the front foot.

Even though possession has been pretty evenly shared, most of the game is being played in the Tottenham half.

The Gunners really are pressing high. How long can they keep this up?

It's been a frantic first 20-odd minutes in the north London derby and one thing is already crystal clear - Tottenham have no intention of giving Arsenal a second on the ball.

Mauricio Pochettino wants this game played at a high tempo. Whenever the ball goes out of play anywhere near him he is racing to get it back in as quickly as possible.

Indeed they can. Tottenham carve open Arsenal easier than a succulent piece of roast beef. Christian Eriksen's right boot is the electric knife, shearing the ball through Arsenal defenders and putting it on a plate for Harry Kane. But his glancing header just drops past the left-hand post.

Intense start. Tottenham will probably just be slightly happier. Can they create a clearcut chance?

Spurs go a little more direct, looking for Christian Eriksen's run from deep. Shkodran Mustafi is across to cover... Oh, hang on! The German dillies, then dallies, almost allowing Eriksen to nip in. Petr Cech comes to the rescue.

Tottenham are really suited to this system with Danny Rose and Kyle Walker looking comfortable as wing backs.

This is a good system for Spurs, it has hampered Arsenal, they look harried and rushed in the early stages, where as Tottenham look comfortable.

Spurs are looking pretty comfortable with this new three-at-the back system. They're pinging the ball nicely between them, with Mousa Dembele and Eric Dier also keeping the ball moving.

I've got a gem for you here. The last time that the north London derby kicked off at midday? Finished 5-4 to the Gunners. We'll take that today. Thank Match of the Day commentator Jonathan Pearce for that beauty of a stat.

No sign of one goal yet though. Both sides taking turns with the ball, neither managing a sustained period of possession.

Tottenham are really in Arsenal's faces. I like the way Victor Wanyama sits deep and Son Heung-min has tested the Arsenal defence on a number of occasions.

Time for 'Zip Cam'. Arsene Wenger has the Arsenal-branded sleeping bag on. A little fiddle with the zip... he's nailed it. If his team can have as much success on the pitch he'll be laughing.
