Summary

  • Hennessey comes in for injured Mandanda

  • Yaya Toure makes first PL start of season for Man City

  1. Battle of the Belgianspublished at 25 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

Palace striker Christian Benteke and City centre-half Vincent Kompany play on the same side when they line up for Belgium but they are very much up against each other today when Palace play those high balls forward. Hard to say who has had the upper hand so far, but Kompany has given away a few free-kicks in the last few minutes.

  2. Postpublished at 23 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

City are still yet to have an effort at goal of any description. At the moment they are struggling to get out of their own half, because Palace are pressing them.

The Eagles are doing a pretty good job too. City go long, and the ball goes straight through to Wayne Hennessey.

  3. Postpublished at 21 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

Palace are enjoying a spell of pressure, helped by wining a free-kick near the City area, but they cannot manage a decent delivery into the box and the visitors hold out.

A minute's applause is taking place at Selhurst Park in memory of one of the victims of the Croydon tram crash, 19-year-old Palace fan Dane Chinnery.

Better from City. Raheem Sterling does well to beat Martin Kelly out on the right and cut into the box. He looks up and tries to pick out Nolito, but does not get enough on his low cross. Palace clear.

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

I'm not sure whether Wilfried Zaha got a shot away before he was blocked off in the City area by Fernandinho but Palace have just had their first effort that has reached the goal - or would have done if it were on target.

Christian Benteke let fly from the edge of the box, but it rolled well wide. That's more than City have managed in the first 15 minutes, mind.

  7. Postpublished at 14 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

Vincent Kompany could be forgiven for being a bit rusty given his lack of recent action and he is guilty of dwelling on the ball for too long in his own half here. He is caught in possession but City have plenty of men back so no need for the visitors to panic.

  8. Postpublished at 12 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

At last some excitement, and it comes courtesy of Wilfried Zaha.

The Palace winger leaves Aleksandar Kolarov on his backside as he cuts into the box from the right but he takes a bit too much time before getting his shot away and he is crowded out. No need for Claudio Bravo to make a save either.

  9. Postpublished at 10 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

City have a corner. Will we see some goalmouth action?

No... they play it short and it is hacked behind by a defender on the near post.

City's second corner is headed clear from a similar area. Wayne Hennessey will have to wait to make his first save of the game.

  10. Postpublished at 8 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

Palace are mostly just pumping the ball forward which is probably why City have had 75% of possession so far. They have not done much with it, mind.

  11. Postpublished at 7 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

The travelling Manchester City fans are chanting Yaya Toure's name but their team have not got going yet.

Palace are hardly looking too hot either, though. Wilfried Zaha has just fired over a cross from the right but there was nobody anywhere near it.

  12. Postpublished at 5 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

Christian Benteke is the target for these long balls forward by Palace but it is not happening for the big Belgian so far - they are yet to find him. Yaya Toure has had a few touches now but if I was looking for word to describe these early exchanges, I would choose 'scrappy'.

  13. Postpublished at 3 mins

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

We've not seen much of City on the ball so far, though. They have had to defend a Palace free-kick that was hoisted into their area. Palace are very direct when they get possession.

  14. Postpublished at 1 min

    Crystal Palace 0-0 Man City

Yaya Toure has taken up an advanced position near Sergio Aguero for City.

A minute's silence is being held at Selhurst Park in tribute to the victims of the Croydon tram crash.

  17. Hennessey also makes a returnpublished at 14:56

Crystal Palace v Man City (15:00 GMT)

Kompany also had a quick chat with Wayne Hennessey - wonder if Hennessey mentioned Wales' win over Belgium at Euro 2016?

Like Kompany and Yaya Toure for City, we have not seen much of the Palace keeper this season - this is his first PL appearance since the opening day on 13 August.

  18. The players are in the tunnelpublished at 14:53

Crystal Palace v Man City (15:00 GMT)

It's pretty crowded in there to be honest.

Vincent Kompany is very talkative, chatting away with Kevin de Bruyne. This is only Kompany's second Premier League start of the season and he is yet to complete 90 minutes in any competition this campaign - he went off before the final whistle in the EFL Cup win over Swansea even though City had used all their substitutions.

  19. 'City are in a five-way battle for the title'published at 14:51

Crystal Palace v Man City (15:00 GMT)

    John Motson
Match of the Day commentator at Selhurst Park

After a whirlwind start, Manchester City's league form has been fitful and they now appear locked in a five-way battle for title supremacy.

Pep Guardiola would ideally like to rest some players ahead of Wednesday's Champions League game away to Borussia Monchengladbach, but dare he do it when they really need three points at Selhurst Park?

Palace have lost their last four games, have a dismal record against City and sit one point above the relegation zone. Their position is especially alarming given how badly their form tailed off in the second half of last season., external

Their three league wins this term all came on the bounce and it will be a concern for Alan Pardew that their results appears so streaky.

  20. It turns out Pep DOES have one eye on Germany...published at 14:48

Crystal Palace v Man City (15:00 GMT)

Lawro thinks City are well-placed in their Champions League group but Pep Guardiola evidently disagrees.

John Stones, Ilkay Gundogan and Gael Clichy are amongst the players completely rested today ahead of Wednesday's trip to Germany to play Borussia Monchengladbach.

That trio did not travel. I wonder if Lawro would rethink his prediction if he knew City's team?
