That effort by Salomon Rondon was going right into the top corner - I saw what he was trying to do. And the save was brilliant from Heaton.

Tom Heaton, take a bow. The Burnley keeper pulls out a worldy of a save to dive full length and tip away Rondon's top corner-bound curling effort from the edge of the box.

    West Brom 2-0 Burnley

Need I remind you that Burnley have scored just once away from home this season. Scoring here isn't even on the agenda at the moment. They are having to put too much effort into defending. Salomon Rondon gets free in the box but his powerful effort from an angle is just a yard too high and clears the goal.

Burnley are clinging on here. West Brom look threatening every time they come forward. A cross from the right is headed away by an away defender with Salomon Rondon lurking and ready to pounce.

  6. 'Burnley are shell-shocked'published at 20:26 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2016

    West Brom 2-0 Burnley

Burnley are shell-shocked. Tom Heaton made a poor error of judgement with that back-pass a minute or so ago and I thought he should have done better with the first goal.

On the penalty shout, Matt Lowton's arm was down. It hits him on the side. It was the right decision from ref Mike Jones.

Big shouts for a penalty as Matt Phillips' cross hits the arm of Matt Lowton. Nothing given. It would have been extremely harsh as well as Lowton had made a concerted effort to have his arms by his sides.

A bit of news from the US of A. Jurgen Klinsmann has been sacked as head coach of the American national team. Wasn't he once the mooted saviour of England? Well, he'll be a lot cheaper to acquire now if the FA want him.

Chaos. Burnley are in bits at the back. Tom Heaton dwells and is put under pressure by Rondon to the extent that he rushes a pass out and sends the ball straight to James Morrison. Fortunately for the keeper - and away side - Morrison slices his effort wide. That could have been game over with barely 20 minutes on the clock.

This is all way too easy for West Brom. Matt Phillips is given a sight of goal but fires his low shot from 25 yards wide of the post.

One touch in the Burnley area in the opening 15 minutes - but nonetheless West Brom find themselves two goals to the good.

West Brom have been sitting in and soaked it up. Baggies striker Salomon Rondon produced great hold-up play and link-up play - he reversed the ball to Morrison. The midfielder gets to 18 yards out and shoots. Tom Heaton should have done better at his near post.

    James Morrison

It's two! And it is way too easy for James Morrison. The Scot collects the ball from Salomon Rondon after the big striker had held off his marker and is given all the time and space he wants to run to the edge of the box and stroke a low shot into the corner of the Burnley net. It is ruthless after Burnley's long spell of possession following the first goal.

  14. CLOSE!published at 13 mins

    West Brom 1-0 Burnley

Great opportunity for Burnley. Jeff Hendrick should score as Sam Vokes' header from the free-kick falls to him unmarked in the box. Instead of sticking his boot through it he goes for something cuter and chips a shot woefully wide of the far post.

Dean Marney hasn't had a good first 12 minutes. His mistake led to the goal and he has just been clattered by James Morrison. Still, it gives Burnley a free-kick from which to make something happen...

Phillips has scored in consecutive Premier League appearances for the first time in his career. Our own Saj Chowdhury gave him his man of the match for his display against Leicester in the game prior to this. Matt Phillips, so hot right now. Matt Phillips.

Burnley's first shot on target. If you can call it that. The ball is swung to the back post and met on the volley by Scott Arfield but his effort is tame and easy for Ben Foster.

  19. 'A terrific finish'published at 20:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 November 2016

    West Brom 1-0 Burnley

That was an absolutely terrific finish. The ball was drilled in low by James Morrison. All Dean Marney does is inadvertently roll the ball into the path of Matt Phillips. He had a quick touch then applied the finish.

Could have been 2-0. Chris Brunt doesn't connect properly with a shot from the edge of the box and it bobbles into Tom Heaton's grasp. I told you to give this game a chance. Cracking start so far. Unless you're Burnley, that is.
