    Watford 0-1 Stoke

Another chance for Marko Arnautovic to fashion something as he is found by Charlie Adam's forward pass. The Stoke forward weaves one way, then the other but sees his shot blocked by Christian Kabasele.

  2. CLOSE!published at 46 mins

    Watford 0-1 Stoke

Should be 2-0. Marko Arnautovic breaks into the Watford half and towards the box before stroking over a low cross that is designed for Jon Walters to finish. It is a yard or two in front of the forward, though, and the chance goes begging. Arnautovic obviously assumes that Walters is actually the Flash.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 45 mins

    Watford 0-1 Stoke

Watford, minus a strip or two, torn off by their manager, get the game back under way.

Now then, I didn't spot this on first viewing, but Charlie Adam just gave a little nudge into the back of his marker before making the header that ultimately led to Stoke's goal. To be fair, the referee didn't spot it either.

I've looked at the goal again and I actually think Gomes should do better. He only really tries to get a leg to it and that's not good enough for me.

It's been a terrible first half from Watford summed up by these booing fans...

  7. Stubborn Stokepublished at 12:52 Greenwich Mean Time 27 November 2016

    Watford 0-1 Stoke

Mark Hughes is obviously doing something right at Stoke. They have conceded just one first-half goal in their last eight Premier League games, having conceded six in the previous five.

  8. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+3 mins

    Watford 0-1 Stoke

Boos for the home side. Or are they for the officials? Possibly both? They have been distinctly average. Stoke have looked very assured and they lead through Heurelho Gomes' own goal.

Finally, some proactive play from Watford. Jose Holebas charges past a couple of challenges and into the Stoke box but just as he is considering a shot or cross, the sliding Glen Johnson takes the ball away from him.

    Watford 0-1 Stoke

Not the smartest bit of play from Giannelli Imbula, who charges after the ball like a drunken bull and smashes into the back of a Watford player, conceding a free-kick.

It allows Watford one last charge into Stoke territory that, in keeping with the general vibe of this half, they are unable to make count.

Diouf is doing really well on the left and Arnautovic on the right because they know that's where Watford can be dangerous.

Stoke have been much the better side this half. They have been put under very little pressure.

All over the pitch they have been better than Watford and that equates to them being in the lead.

  12. Postpublished at 43 mins

Walter Mazzarri's scarf is off. Is he getting hot under the collar literally as well as metaphorically? He is out of his seat and bellowing instructions in the hope of influencing his team in a positive fashion before the break. They have been pretty poor so far.

  13. YELLOW CARDpublished at 40 mins

    Watford 0-1 Stoke

Jose Holebas is the third Watford player into the book as he kicks the ball away following the concession of a corner.

The Stoke corner itself is swung straight in to the hands of Heurelho Gomes.

More frustration for Watford. Jose Holebas collects the ball on the right in the Watford half but is penalised for a raised boot on Mame Diouf.

Everything is going against Watford at the moment.

The fans here are on their feet ironically cheering any decisions that go their way. There has been precious little for these home fans to be pleased with so far.

Another set-piece for Watford, but again they fail to make it count. It is swung in to the box and headed over the bar by Miguel Britos.

The corner is taken short and briefly offers a threat after being headed back towards the penalty spot from the back post but Stoke dig in and manage to get the ball away.

Stoke are doing a job on Watford here. The game is being played predominantly in the home half and the Hornets fans are already very frustrated with the officials, their own team, the bloke selling burgers outside the ground, everyone.

You can hear the frustration from the Watford fans because they feel that every decision since that yellow card for Amrabat is going against them.
