It's been a busy week at Spurs as defender Jan Vertonghen has also signed a new contract, committing him to the club until 2019.

The 29-year-old Belgium international, whose old deal ran until 2018, has made 179 appearances for the Premier League club since his 2012 move from Ajax.

"It's a big relief. The future looks great so I'm very happy to be a part of it," he said.

  2. ICYMI - Kane signs new Spurs dealpublished at 09:17 Greenwich Mean Time 3 December 2016

    Tottenham v Swansea (15:00 GMT)

England striker Harry Kane has signed a new contract with Tottenham that will tie him to the club until 2022.

The deal, reportedly, external worth more than £100,000 a week, replaces the five-year agreement he signed in February 2015.

"Everyone knows what I feel for this club," said Kane, 23, who has scored five goals in 17 England appearances.

"To sign another contract is a special feeling. We have got a great young squad and the club is moving in the right direction."

Kane has scored six goals in 10 appearances for Spurs this season, despite missing 10 games with an ankle injury.

He scored 21 times in the top flight in 2014-15 and won the Golden Boot with 25 league goals last season.

In 2009, Pep Guardiola used a motivational video around images from the film Gladiator, starring Leeds United fan Russell Crowe, to help inspire his then Barcelona team to victory over Manchester United in the 2009 Champions League final.
