Selhurst Park is normally a bear pit but - baiting of referee Craig Pawson aside - it has been very low-key here.

In defence of what are normally very fervent fans, Palace's approach has been so passive that they have given their supporters nothing to get behind.

Degan, a disillusioned football fan: I hate diving and all the nonsense which goes on in modern football, but if the refs can't even see a blatant two-footed lunge then what's their purpose!?

Bad news for United as Eric Bailly is unable to continue. He has been in the wars tonight and he takes an age to hobble off the pitch to be replaced by Matteo Darmian.

United are still very comfortable in possession. Apart from Joe Ledley's earlier effort, Palace have offered little to nothing.

You can look at this game in two ways. 

One is that Palace have got what they deserve having not threatened or you could say that they have defended well.

A first touch by Joe Ledley almost results in an equaliser. The Wales midfielder lets fly from outside the area - and it's only just wide. That's woken the Palace fans up!

Alan Pardew responds to Palace's poor first half by sending on Joe Ledley for Mathieu Flamini at the start of the second half. Palace need to respond. They have been poor so far.

Manchester United have really dominated the first-half possession against Palace, who failed to register a shot on target.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic was not marked and that is why Palace have been punished.

There was an element of offside but Palace will be disappointed.

Rob Jones: Ibra punches it to and offside Pogba and the goal stands the refs shocking!!

Luke: United the most lucky team in PL history. Anyone who believes JM's outlandish claims are as pathetic as him!

Matt Collingwood: United very lucky to go in a goal up at the break. Even luckier to finish the half with 11 men!

A dull first 45 minutes ends in acrimony with Crystal Palace furious after appeals for handball and offside were ignored as Zlatan Ibrahimovic appeared to handle a pass into Paul Pogba's path for his goal.

And what about Marcos Rojo? Will he ever learn? So fortunate to escape a red card for a two-footed lunge on Idrissa Gueye at Everton - he does exactly the same thing on Wilfried Zaha and is lucky to just get a yellow card.

It has been a strange game, without any real tempo or gusto. 

Palace have just looked to hit United on the break. There hasn't been any real blood and thunder.

Three shots on target. One goal. Palace have shown little imagination.

Did Man Utd's Rojo deserve a red card for his tackle on Wilfried Zaha?

Peter Collins: Rojo should seen red there. Awful tackle. Again. Not learning.

United have finally woken up. Paul Pogba's volley, after a wonderful ball by Michael Carrick, forces another save from Wayne Hennessey.

First booking of the game and it's fully deserved. Marcos Rojo is cautioned after taking out Wilfried Zaha in full flight. That was poor by the United man.

That is why you want Rooney in central areas. 

It was fantastic movement in behind and he was unlucky with the shot.

It's taken 37 painful minutes but we have our first serious chance on goal.

A lovely chip by Paul Pogba finds Wayne Rooney, deep inside the Palace penalty area, who forces a fine save from Wayne Hennessey.

Manchester United have some good players but there is a fragmented look about them.

They have too many people that are not quite playing in the right position.
