  1. A clean start for Citypublished at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Man City 2-0 Watford

It's a bit English but that zero next to Watford's name is the notable statistic from tonight.

Pep left John Stones out of his Manchester City line-up, picked four at the back, stuck with them for 90 minutes and was rewarded with his side's third clean sheet of the season.

If City can get that number up, they have the firepower to score - and win - against anyone.

    David Silva

    Game over.

Swift and clean by Manchester City. Fernando wins the ball on the halfway line, David Silva picks up the baton. No challenge is forthcoming, the Spaniard exchanges passes with Raheem Sterling in the box, then slams in from 12 yards.

    Man City 1-0 Watford

OH! Should be 1-1. Watford's best - and perhaps only - chance. Nordin Amrabat rolls marker Gael Clichy, clipping in a delightful right-wing cross into the centre. Odion Ighalo meets it with an outstretched foot, firing over the bar. That would have hit the onion bag for the Watford striker last season...

  11. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 79 mins

Pep's mixing it up. One Spaniard comes on for another, Jesus Navas on for Nolito.

  12. Bravo Bravopublished at 21:39 Greenwich Mean Time 14 December 2016

    Man City 1-0 Watford

Claudio Bravo has not had the easiest time of it as Joe Hart's replacement at Manchester City.

There was even some ironic applause for him from his own fans earlier in the game when he dealt with a routine bit of work.

But the applause was genuine and justified then after keeping out Etienne Capoue's shot.

City have strolled through this game. Watford have rarely threatened.

If the visitors snatch a point now I don't think the home fans will be very impressed.

Kevin de Bruyne goes down clutching his leg. He's alright.

    Man City 1-0 Watford

The Watford free-kick is curled into the Manchester City area, Miguel Britos meeting the ball with his head. But the ball goes backwards. Actually, it works out well - falling at Etienne Capoue's feet and he blasts low at the near post. Claudio Bravo makes a vital save.

And here's another example of Isaac's Success. Again he goes direct, Zabaleta forced into a clumsy foul. Free-kick about 25 yards out...

Isaac Success fancies his chances against Pablo Zabaleta here. The Watford substitute is not afraid to run at the City defence.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 71 mins

    Man City 1-0 Watford

Here he is. Troy Deeney comes on for the Hornets, off goes Jerome Sinclair. Not a memorable first Watford start for the 20-year-old forward - he only managed 11 touches. Only City keeper Claudio Bravo had fewer...

Are City going to kill this game off? Doesn't look like it yet. The home side still dominating possession, but not really stretching Watford.
