Watford have barely been out of their half in the past 15 minutes. Now they are. Daryl Janmaat scampers up the right flank, looking for Odion Ighalo with a near-post cross. The much-maligned home defence, hardly troubled, clears.

A sympathetic round of applause from the home fans as Ilkay Gundogan trudges off. Appears to be the knee injury which he picked up a few moments earlier after a clash with Nordin Amrabat. On comes Fernando.

Wonder if Manchester City have given Yaya Toure a cake to mark his 200th Premier League appearance? Keep him sweet.

Toure almost marks the occasion with a goal, slapping a 20-yard drive over the Watford bar.

Kevin de Bruyne hasn't scored for a while has he? Since THAT night against Barcelona.

The Manchester City midfielder has a couple of blasts from a central-left position in a matter of seconds, one flashing past the far post, the other forcing Watford keeper Gomes into decisive action.

    Pep Guardiola enjoyed that.

As Pablo Zabaleta's shot hit the net, he swivelled round in his technical area and seemed to do a fist pump. I say seemed because his hands were in his pockets.

What he definitely did was pick out a friendly face higher up in the stadium to his right, raised his right arm, clenched his fist and saluted whoever it was three times.

Now all City need to do is keep their third clean sheet of the season.

Pablo Zabaleta was standing his own postcode there. Watford not organised after that enforced change? The City right-back must have been sub Juan Zuniga's man.

    Pablo Zabaleta

Breakthrough. This has lifted the Etihad!

Kevin de Bruyne twists and turns into space on the left, his cross going over the Watford defence to the back stick. Pablo Zabaleta is lurking there, watching the ball land on his right foot and calmly sidefooting into the corner.

  13. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 30 mins

Jeers from the home fans as Roberto Pereyra crumples to the grass again. "Play on!" shouts one fans next to the microphone.

Pablo Zabaleta is more sympathetic and kicks the ball out. Pereya's night is over. Big blow for Watford.

Juan Zuniga comes on in a straight swap.

Watford back on level terms. That's in numbers of men on the pitch. Roberto Pereyra is back on. Looks to be hobbling still though.

Can Manchester City take advantage of their temporary numerical advantage? Nope. Watford midfielder Etienne Capoue tracks back to dispossess David Silva on the left flank.

Uh oh. Not good news for Watford. Roberto Pereyra is down on the deck, slipping as he tries to dispossess Pablo Zabaleta. Looks like he has twisted something. Watford down to 10 men as the Argentina winger has some treatment.

Troy Deeney is already warming up for Watford. Then, after a quick word with fourth official Mark Clattenburg, pulls off his woolly hat. That's almost the most exciting moment of the match.

Man City's Nolito has forgotten his shooting boots. The Spanish forward can't beat Heurelho Gomes from an acute angle, then shanks a 20-yard volley wide. That ends up nearer the corner flag...

Pep Guardiola has not only brought a unique style of football to the Premier League, he has also snubbed convention in his touchline attire.

Against Celtic last week, that meant a pretty striking pair of trainers.

No sign of them tonight. Just a rather sober pair of brown shoes.

He isn't really just trying to blend in is he?

Ooof! Sebastian Prodl clatters into David Silva after the City man deftly turns him. The big Austrian's name goes into ref Kevin Friend's notepad.
