  4. 'The penalty was the turning point'published at 19:34 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

    Hull 0-3 Man City

Hull manager Mike Phelan, speaking to the BBC: "The penalty was the major turning point.

"Andrew Robertson is heartbroken over it because he knows he has suffered a harsh lesson there - he has got to stay on his feet and shuffle the player across into an area where maybe his team-mate can do a little bit better at making an attempt to tackle.

"But he has learned from that, and he will learn a lot more at this level. He is a good young player, and a good kid to have around but he has made a basic basic mistake that has cost us.

"Until then, we put everything together the best way we could. I thought we were very very solid and moved the ball around well. We got to their players quickly and definitely frustrated them, we caused them a few problems now and again."

  5. 'We forgot where the goal was'published at 19:29 Greenwich Mean Time 26 December 2016

    Hull 0-3 Man City

Man City boss Pep Guardiola, speaking to the BBC: "I enjoyed it because we won but like always had to work hard for it. In the first half we forgot where the goal was, in the second half, our strikers saw the goal a bit more and after the first goal it was easy.

"There is always pressure for us because the top of the league is tough and the other teams at the top had won today. Every game we play is like a final."

Does that make a difference, seeing other teams have won before you play? "You have to win, the other games sometimes you play before or after them but the goal is the same."

On John Stones, who went off injured in the first half: "We were a little bit worried about that but it is just a kick, hopefully OK for Liverpool. A kick not ligaments or something like that."

Raheem Sterling has had three runs towards the defence in this second half - when he can be bothered he is unstoppable.

That was anything but a comfortable win.

It was a long way away from where I have seen them in previous matches but it doesn't matter.

They are back to second in the table.

    Curtis Davies own goal

The final kick of the game comes from Curtis Davies and it is to send the ball in to his own net. Yaya Toure's superb pass releases Raheem Sterling down the left. He darts into the box and past Michael Dawson before driving in a low cross that Davies pokes into the goal.

The scoreline is harsh on Hull but this is the talent Man City possess. Even when they aren't playing at their best they are potent.

A couple of stats on both of Man City's goalscorers today...

Yaya Toure has scored all 10 of his Premier League penalties, the best 100% record in the competition.

Kelechi Iheanacho has netted 12 Premier League goals from just 19 shots on target.

This game has turned around very, very quickly indeed.

Sometimes, those teams challenging for the top competitions have to decide when they are going to turn it on. That was it for Man City.
