    Liverpool 2-1 Stoke

Liverpool have come from behind to lead. Can Stoke do the same? Or are the Reds heading back to second spot in the table? We are back under way.

Stoke got into the game going long into Peter Crouch - back to front early - with support from John Walters and Joe Allen.

The Stoke goal came from a mistake from Simon Mignolet and Dejan Lovren but Liverpool got momentum and again it was Lallana with an excellent finish and Liverpool finished the half strongly and probably do deserve to be ahead.

  5. Lallana on firepublished at 18:11 Greenwich Mean Time 27 December 2016

    Liverpool 2-1 Stoke

Adam Lallana has been involved in more goals than any other midfielder in the Premier League this season (7 goals, 6 assists, 13 in total).

England's current best midfielder? Best player full stop? Probably.

In that initial 10 minute spell Liverpool were on top then Stoke had an excellent spell but Liverpool have settled down and the equaliser has certainly helped them.

  7. HALF-TIMEpublished at 45+3 mins

    Liverpool 2-1 Stoke

    Well, that was eventful.

Liverpool have responded emphatically to Stoke taking the lead through Jon Walters. Adam Lallana and Roberto Firmino have turned the game on it's head.

Still nothing decided yet, though. Potentially cracking second half to come.

    Stoke just can't get out.

They can't even go long because of the pressure the back four and midfield are being put under.

That goal ends a run of six Premier League games without a goal for Bobby F. It is his seventh goal of the season.

Sadio Mane nearly adds a third to Liverpool's tally with a first-time shot from the edge of the box that bobbles past the post.

Firmino's first touch was excellent and he strikes his shot across Lee Grant.

Lallana and Milner are both involved again.

It has been coming. Stoke have been on the back foot for the last 10 or 15 minutes.

    Roberto Firmino

Liverpool do lead before the break. Roberto Firmino is given all the space and time he needs after being found in the box by James Milner. The Brazilian collects, turns and finds the net courtesy of the far and then near post. Thread the needle.

Sadio Mane has seen a lot of the ball in this half but his final ball has been poor. He breaks away with just one Stoke man in front of him but is not decisive enough, allowing the away defence to rally, before passing straight to a man in light blue.

Liverpool fancy having a lead at the break. They come forward down the left but James Milner's cross is plucked out of the air by Lee Grant.

Close! Adam Lallana's nice pull-back finds Roberto Firmino but he gets his shot from inside the box all wrong, sending the ball a yard over the bar.

This came not long after the game's first booking - for Joe Allen.

Liverpool have done a Stoke with a long ball into Origi.

Johnson made the mistake - he should have cleared it out for a corner but he took a touch and Lallana has read it.

It is great awareness from him.

    Adam Lallana

The home fans are happier now! Adam Lallana brings Liverpool level with a finish from a tight angle from close range. He was helped out massively by Glen Johnson, though, who failed to control the ball after Sadio Mane's cross had deflected his way, thus gifting Lallana his chance.

    Liverpool 0-1 Stoke

The Liverpool fans are fuming. So is Jurgen Klopp. Sadio Mane comes off second best in a challenge as he tries to break away down the right. Most people in the ground feel it is a foul. Not the ref, though.

Both managers are out in their technical areas. Klopp is fully wrapped up in a big coat, Mark Hughes just wears a suit. Cold 0-1 Stoke boss.

His side's display will certainly be warming him. They come again and see two shots from the edge of the box blocked before Dejan Lovren has to be alert to see off an attack following a through-ball to goalscorer Walters.
