  14. Pressure mounts on Johnston at Kilmarnockpublished at 17:30 British Summer Time 26 October 2016

Kilmarnock sponsors QTS are warning they could withdraw their backing unless former chairman Michael Johnston resigns from the board.

Last week, Russel Smith stepped down as a director following unrest over Johnston's continuing role at Rugby Park.

Johnston, who bought into the club in 2005 for one pound, has reportedly rejected an offer of £1.9 to sell his 40% holding.

Managing director of QTS Alan McLeish said in a statement to the Kilmarnock Standard, external that change was needed to move Scotland's oldest professional club forwards.

He said: "The ongoing pressures in the club boardroom are concerning for us, as our partnership with the club is in place to ensure that the team have the best possible resources to perform and focus on the main concern, their football.

"As a sponsor, we don’t like to get involved in the disputes, but the current arrangement is creating a very disturbing atmosphere that we feel is detrimental to the team’s success.

"The fans have made their point quite clear, they want Michael Johnston to go and considering the offer he has been made, I think he should seriously take it.

"Local business, fans, and the club directors have made their positions very clear, and I feel that I must agree.

"The only way the club can move forward now, is for Michael to stand down from the board and let the club move into a new era.

Almost 1,500 fans have signed a petition for the company secretary to sever his ties with Killie

"QTS would seriously be considering its sponsorship position if Michael stayed in place on the board.

"We feel the only person who can take the club forward at this moment in time is Billy Bowie. Any other way would be to the detriment of the football club.

  15. Stop-start season has been 'crazy'published at 17:01 British Summer Time 26 October 2016

    Motherwell v Inverness CT (19:45)

Motherwell might be a little rusty this evening, having played just one match this month due to the international break and the League Cup semi-finals.

Manager Mark McGhee , who doubles as Gordon Strachan's right-hand man with Scotland, says it's been as "crazy season" in terms of disruption and admits he has his doubts about the winter break in January.

"Obviously I am involved in the international break so I can't say too much but it seems stop/start," he said yesterday. "It feels the breaks have been especially pronounced this year, they seem longer and seem more regular. We have to be careful to keep their levels of fitness up.

"Then of course we have the winter break. It is unpredictable, you don't know when games are off. It could be that time of year, it could be early February. So from that point of view I am not 100% sure that it serves any other purpose other than it gives players the chance to recover from the first half of the season."

    Dundee v Partick Thistle (19:45)

Dundee are down in the dumps right now but the previous form guide suggests they have a great chance of moving off bottom spot tonight.

Paul Hartley's men have only victory from 10 league games this season but the Dark Blues are unbeaten in 14 Premiership meetings with Partick Thistle (W10 D4), the team immediately above them.

The home side are without Mark O'Hara, Faissal El Bakhtaoui and Nicky Low through injury, while the Jags are missing Steven Lawless, Chris Erskine, Tomas Cerny, Stuart Bannigan and Mustapha Dumbuya.

  20. Can Gilks keep place?published at 15:00 British Summer Time 26 October 2016

    Rangers v St Johnstone (19:45)

Talking of rotating, it will be intriguing to find out if Scotland cap Matt Gilks retains a starting place with Rangers at home to St Johnstone tonight.

A series of fine saves by the summer signing held Celtic at bay until Moussa Dembele's late winner in Sunday's League Cup semi-final.

But Englishman Wes Foderingham has been preferred by manager Mark Warburton to the former Blackpool goalkeeper in the Glasgow side's Premiership games.
