Earlier today, Hull City tweeted about Caleb Folan's winner in this fixture in the 2007-08 season. It got me wondering, what the hell happened to Folan?

Incredible. This is a man who has lived and explored. After leaving Hull in 2011 he had spells with Colorado Rapids, T-Team (they play in Malaysia) and last season he was at FC Kanbawza - they play in Myanmar.

As I said, he is a man who has lived. From Leeds to south-east Asia via Chesterfield, Wigan and Hull.

Hull will be first to emerge from the tunnel, their players skip down the stairs with energy while West Brom's look laboured behind them. Michael Dawson claps and demands from his Hull team-mates.

West Brom will probably get in at half-time to a few words from Tony Pulis. The onus is then on West Brom to come out and get the equaliser.

Hull need to pick up three points, draws are no good for them now.

An entertaining first 45 minutes and Hull deserve their advantage. This man has been key in all they do, his goal is the difference.

West Brom came to life late in the half and began to at least have attempts on goal. They will hold hope but Hull look good on the counter. They may well have forgotten what winning feels like, so can they close this out?

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

West Brom build but Hull have a line of bodies on the edge of the 18-yard box. The ball is worked wide to Matt Phillips, fine play, he leaves Curtis Davies in his wake... low cross... well held David Marshall.

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

Hull boss Mike Phelan is telling his troops to calm down and close the game out in order to have this lead at the break. It's a bit too open for his liking.

They respond with a spell of possession and Gareth McAuley's foul on Adama Diomande wins a free-kick. That should see them ahead at the break.

I'm enjoying this, I hope you are too.

"COME ON YOU BAGGIES," comes the cry from the terraces. The home fans are charged after Salomon Rondon goes close, a fine Curtis Davies block denied the Venezuelan from 12 yards.

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

This game has a good tempo, moments after Matt Phillips heads to force a save from David Marshall at one end, Hull go close at the other.

Adama Diomande is played in and with his leg poised to fire, Gareth McAuley makes a superb last-ditch tackle. In the fall out from the chance Tom Huddlestone fizzes a shot from 30 yards and Ben Foster stretches to palm it wide.

The story of the game so far, West Brom up against it and Hull being robust and creative.

  10. CLOSE!published at 38 mins

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

Hull City win the ball on halfway, Jake Livermore solid in the tackle against Salomon Rondon. They create a three versus three scenario as a result and the ball is played left to Adama Diomande. He wants shooting space, he wants to bend the ball around a defender to the far corner... shoots... well wide.

    They should have got more.

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

James Morrison picks the ball up 35 yards out and tries to curl the ball into the corridor of uncertainty behind the defence. It's a good knock but David Marshall is off his line rapidly to collect.

Hull will break from his throw out, Ahmed Elmohamady wins another corner.

The away side deserve credit, very solid and they have their thinking caps on when they go forward - asking plenty of questions.

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

At last West Brom have turned up, Salomon Rondon lurking in the box to meet a cross from the left but his header is straight at David Marshall.

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

As you can see, West Brom are yet to touch the ball in the Hull area (left). This is not the efficient side we saw at Southampton. Hull meanwhile are having a right go (right).

It seems Allan Nyom will be a straight swap, taking up the left hand central defensive role.

I will keep an eye on how West Brom re-shuffle. Allan Nyom is typically a full-back but in replacing Jonny Evans he may be asked to play an unfamiliar role.

Snodgrass is the real shining light in that side and if Hull are going to stay up it'll be because of him.

I know he has just signed a new contract, but Hull have to do everything to keep him.

  17. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 29 mins

    West Brom 0-1 Hull City

Jonny Evans does not look like he is moving well at all, he is down on one knee and holding his right leg, curtains for him. He's hobbling off. A clap to the fans, Allan Nyom is ready to come on.

This will be the Cameroon player's last outing before the Africa Cup of Nations.

Hull City seeing a fair bit more of the ball and generally neater with it. They have completed 85% of their passes, West Brom just 77%.

Tony Pulis is striding around, hands in pockets, chewing like a dog on a bone. He looks concerned and so he should be. His team have been dire so far. Not a single shot at goal, Hull have had six.
