Former England right-back Danny Mills will be talking about his experiences beside controversial Rangers midfielder Joey Barton at Manchester City.

Partick Thistle assistant manager Scott Paterson expects Aberdeen to come out all guns blazing in their Premiership game in Glasgow on Friday. 

"We know what's coming," he said. "It will be an Aberdeen team looking to get back on track after two disappointing results.

"They will be looking to push Celtic even closer this year, so we know what we're in store for on Friday night. 

"But we have prepared well and you have to bare in mind we're on a good run ourselves so we will go into the game full of confidence."

Derek McInnes is hoping his Aberdeen side can bounce back from defeats by Hamilton Academical and Celtic.

"I think the form going into this has not been spot on," he said ahead of Friday's visit to Glasgow to face Partick Thistle.

"We are looking to get some impetus again, which we are more than capable of.

"But I do feel that, going into the Partick game, although we are in good form against them previously, I think this Thistle team are different.

"They are bigger in size, have a different way of playing and I think what Alan Archibald has put together there is a very experienced squad.

"We've got a tough job. They have won their last two."

MSPs have voted to urge the Scottish government to repeal its Offensive Behaviour at Football Act.

Opposition parties all back scrapping the act, and united to hand the government a symbolic defeat.

Labour's James Kelly has lodged a member's bill aiming to repeal the legislation, and the Tories put the matter forward for debate.

SNP MSPs defended the legislation, saying opponents have not put forward any viable alternatives.

Hamilton Accies' Martin Canning believes relegation from the Premiership will not be decided until the last games of the season. 

"Last year, United got cut off a bit, but I don't see that happening this year," said the player-manager.

"There is so little between everyone that it's going to be tight all the way through. 

"If you can put a run together, it makes such a big difference."

Third-bottom Accies are away to Kilmarnock, who are two points better off, on Saturday and Canning suggested: "We need to make sure we win games like this Saturday's because these are the big ones for us."

Mark Warburton has sidestepped talk of his Rangers side mounting a title challenge, despite Saturday's 3-0 win over Kilmarnock lifting them into second place in the Premiership.

The Ibrox outfit remain nine points adrift of leaders and holders Celtic, with their Glasgow rivals also having a game in hand.

"There is no point in me talking about other teams," said the Rangers manager. 

"We have to go into every game one game at a time, delivering that consistency and, if we do that, we will be in a good place. 

"Judge us at the end of the season." 

Rangers had a poor start to the season, dropping points in six of their first 10 games. 

"After a sluggish start to the season, we are getting there," insisted Warburton. "We are enjoying training, the boys are all nice and bright."

The fact that Joey Barton is returning to full-time training does not necessarily mean the resumption of his Rangers career. 

Under Fifa rules, a player under contract at a club must be provided with training facilities.

The fact that the player was suspended reflects the view of the management team about the serious nature of a training ground row in September. 

Any return to the first-team squad would need to be handled in such a way as to not disrupt the mood and unity among the players.

Rangers’ statement does not say that Barton is returning to the first-team squad, or will be available for selection, and only the management team at their Auchinhowie training ground is mentioned, rather than first-team manager Mark Warburton.

Either the player does eventually return to the first-team squad, or his Rangers career effectively remains over and what happens in the transfer window will be significant.

Rangers have confirmed that Joey Barton will return to training after serving a club suspension.

"Joey Barton has been told he will return to full-time training following the conclusion of a disciplinary procedure," a statement on the club website read.

"The Auchenhowie management team will inform the player of appropriate training arrangements to which he must adhere for as long as he remains a Rangers player. 

"Neither the club nor the player will comment further."

Celtic leave Germany on Wednesday afternoon with their dignity intact - perhaps restored - after a performance and result that defied pre-match predictions of another away-day humbling in Europe.

Incredibly, this was only the fifth point they've brought home from their Champions League travels, with a win over Spartak Moscow and an unlikely draw in Barcelona their only other positive achievements in the competition on foreign soil.

The key for Brendan Rodgers is to ensure that this result acts as a catalyst towards more consistent success away from Celtic Park, which should help him achieve his ambition of turning Celtic into a team that regularly reaches the latter stages of Europe's elite tournament.
