Four minutes of time added on and Southampton are camped out on the edge of their own area. Liverpool doing all the pressing, could they snatch an equaliser?

A nice little shimmy by Philippe Coutinho on the edge of the Liverpool area... before he over hits a pass out wide and out for a goalkick. The Brazilian, understandably, looks a little rusty.

Someone has just sneaked a cat in among the pigeons. Chaos. Seconds after Barcelona go 2-0 ahead, Athletic pull back an all-important away goal.

Given their performance, Liverpool will surely take a one-goal deficit going into the second leg. However, they have the chance to restore parity with a corner, but James Milner's effort is cleared. The Reds have been poor from set pieces.

Barcelona fans haven't seen Neymar's cheeky grin for a while - it's back! 

The Brazil forward increases Barca's lead with his first goal in domestic football since 2 October. He is clumsily fouled by an away defender in the box, picking himself up to coolly slot into the bottom left corner. Keeper? Sent. 

All hope not lost for Athletic though. The visitors need one goal to take this to extra time.

Another big chance for Southampton. Shane Long plays a sublime ball across the face of goal for the onrushing Nathan Redmond who, with three Liverpool players on the line, cleverly attempts the chip but it strikes the bar before Adam Lallana hooks away the loose ball.

And here comes Divock Origi for Liverpool, replacing Roberto Firmino.

Jay Rodriguez is looking tired and he is booked following a late challenge. It's his last action of the game as he is replaced by Shane Long. James Ward-Prowse also comes on, replacing Steven Davis.

Half-time at the Nou Camp where Luis Enrique is delivering a tactical masterclass no doubt. The words 'do', 'not' and 'concede' will be getting bandied about. In Spanish, obviously. 

Barcelona are 45 minutes away from the Copa Del Rey last eight after Luis Suarez's volley. 

We're already back underway in the second halves of the earlier kick-offs in Italy and France. Coppa Italia holders Juventus are still 2-0 up against Atalanta, while defending champions Paris St-Germain are 1-0 ahead against Metz in the Coupe de la Ligue.

Daniel Sturridge has been handed some instructions on a scrap of paper from the Liverpool bench and he is currently running around the pitch showing it to Dejan Lovren and Adam Lallana. Change of tactics? They need to do something.

Southampton make their first change of the game as Jordy Clasie is replaced by Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg. 

How much will the Saints rue missing a few decent chances? As long as they lead by just the one goal, Liverpool are still in this.

Just under 20 minutes to go and it is all Southampton as Ragnar Klavan stabs away Ryan Bertrand's cutback for Jay Rodriguez. Great chance for the hosts to add a second.

A lucky escape for Liverpool as Lucas blocks Oriol Romeu as Southampton again threatened to break quickly from the edge of their own area.

Pass it - or shoot across goal! If Southampton get two goals Liverpool will be up against it in the second leg. 

Oh big chance for Southampton to add a second! 

Not for the first time, Liverpool are caught on the counter after their own attack breaks down. Southampton are three against two with Nathan Redmond leading the charge and he puts Cedric Soares through on goal but the defending slams a shot into the sidenetting. Should have hit the target.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp gave Philippe Coutinho a warm embrace before sending him on - perhaps because he knows how much he is counting on him here.

Klopp's side just haven't got going at all but they are still right in this game at only one down and he will be hoping the little Brazilian can provide the moment of magic Liverpool are seeking.

Philippe Coutinho is eager to get involved. He is buzzing around midway inside the Southampton half, collecting the ball from Emre Can before spraying a pass to James Milner on the left side of the area, but Milner's cross is cleared.
