We probably didn't see that coming after a cagey opening 45 minutes. Celtic produce an impressive second-half display to secure victory at Firhill and move 11 points clear at the top of the Premiership.

Brendan Rodgers believes his side are showing greater attacking menace as the season progresses while his Partick Thistle counterpart Alan Archibald wants his players to be more ruthless in front of goal and tighter in defence.

    Partick 1-4 Celtic

"We made it tough for ourselves. You can't give good sides goals. We struggled with the basics tonight; we gave them goals.

"We offered very little in the final third and that's very disappointing. We didn't have that belief. We've got to keep believing and we're not adrift [at the foot of the Premiership table]."

    Partick Thistle 1-4 Celtic

"An outstanding result for us. I don't think Partick had conceded two goals in a game (before tonight) The first half was in fits and starts but we got a good goal [through Stuart Armstrong] and changed a couple of things at half time to help us in the build-up."

Brendan Rodgers hailed an "outstanding" result for Celtic

"I can see the development: the relationship between the training and the games. We've got goals in the team and we're aggressive when we attack.

"The team's maturing, staying composed and calm under pressure."

Another one for Leigh Griffiths? No, the pint-sized Celtic striker, with legs going like an excitable hamster's on a wheel, speeds into the Partick penalty area but his shot finds the side-netting.

GOAL Partick 1-4 Celtic (McGregor)published at 81 mins

The visitors have stepped it up a gear and it's grim viewing for the hosts. Moments after Ade Azeez's Platoon moment, Celtic hit on the counter as Emilio Izaguirre flicks a pitching wedge of a cross back into the path of the onrushing Callum McGregor, and the midfielder fires a dart beyond Tomas Cerny.

  15. YELLOW CARDpublished at 79 mins

    Partick Thistle 1-3 Celtic

Another through ball makes uncomfortable viewing for Celtic's defence. Substitute Ade Azeez is onto it in a flash but a theatrical tumble as Craig Gordon comes out to block sees the Partick man booked by whistler Craig Thomson.

  16. GREAT SAVE!published at 77 mins

    Partick Thistle 1-3 Celtic

Tomas Cerny, what a save! Celtic carve open the Partick defence with a flowing move as Gamboa's cross tees up substitute Dembele but the French striker sees his rasping drive superbly pushed away by Cerny.

  17. Partick Thistle 1-3 Celticpublished at 75 mins

Another couple of substutions: Azeez replaces Doolan for the hosts and Dembele trots on for Roberts.

Onside or offside? Partick had free headers at both goals so good news at last for all other teams! Pump it in the box and discover Celtics weakness!

  20. Partick Thistle 1-3 Celticpublished at 70 mins

While the first half was nip and tuck with space on the ball at a premium, the second has ushered in wide-open encounter with chances aplenty. Three goals since the break with the promise of a few more. Can Partick Thistle test Celtic again with another set piece or will the visitors extend their lead?
