The goalkeeper did well there, but Leigh Griffiths has to get a little bit more on that ball, and if he does Tomas Cerny would have been in real trouble.

Ziggy Gordon's name goes into referee Craig Thomson's big black book after the eagle-eyed whistler blows for a foul on the tumbling Gary Mackay-Steven. No complaints from Gordon as Celtic mounted a promising counter attack.

The visitors, however, fail to profit from the subsequent set piece fired into the box as Thomson spots an infringement. 

As you were!

Leigh Griffiths is in on goal... No! Partick Thistle keeper Tomas Cerny, displaying Ninja-like reflexes, thunders off his line to nab the ball off the toes of the scuttling Celtic forward.

We're getting closer to the breakthrough at a floodlit Firhill.

Partick Thistle play a long ball to Chris Erskine on the left hand side, who controls it well but thumps a left-foot shot across the face of the goal!

Brendan Rodgers, using the universal signal for "cool the beans" urges his Celtic side to be calmer in possession.

Seconds later, the galloping Leigh Griffiths narrowly misses out on collecting a long through ball after outpacing the Partick defence. 

Celtic goalkeeper Craig Gordon, to keep the circulation going apart from anything else, trots out with the ball before feeding Erik Sviatchenko. The visitors begin their patient build-up but have proved toothless to date in front of the Partick Thistle defence. 

The hosts are beginning to show more attacking intent and Kris Doolan's shot is blocked on the edge of the area. Celtic manage to clear their lines but the game is showing welcome signs of opening up. It remains goalless three minutes shy of the half-hour mark.

Partick Thistle have been very direct. They get everyone in there in a 20 and 30-yard area and play it long. It's putting Celtic under a bit of pressure.

A heavy touch from Tom Rogic enables Partick Thistle to launch a counter attack but it fizzles out on the edge of the Celtic penalty area. 

Better from the hosts but they'll aim to offer a greater threat in front of Craig Gordon's goal.

Alan Archibald has his Partick troops in the faces of Celtic and the visitors are still finding it difficult to find time and space on the ball .

David Amoo is giving Partick Thistle a threat and an option down the right hand side. Two or three occasions he's been played in behind the Celtic defence and they've had to put it out for a throw-in or a corner. Because of his pace and athleticism he's causing Celtic problems.

Better, quicker football from the visitors as a counter attack sees Patrick Roberts tee up Leigh Griffiths but the striker can't find a way past Tomas Cerny in the Partick goal.

Celtic are enjoying 70% possession in the first half but have shown very little for it. The game is still proving cagey...

Winger Patrick Roberts is felled as he tries to spear through the Partick Thistle rearguard. Leigh Griffiths is sizing up a shot from distance but his tame free-kick fails to trouble Cerny.

Celtic have yet to fire on all cylinders. Recalled striker Leigh Griffiths tries to steal a march on the Partick Thistle defence but the marksman is flagged offside as he chases down a long ball.

Can Celtic go the domestic season unbeaten? Or can Partick Thistle put a stop to that dream this evening?

Partick Thistle force a corner after stretching the Celtic defence but the hosts fail to capitalise with a quite woeful set piece. 

Alan Archibald won't be a happy camper with that one.  

BBC Sportsound pundit Steven Thompson believes the hosts will be content with the opening to this Premiership encounter.

Partick Thistle are snapping at Celtic heels and giving the league leaders precious little time on the ball.
