Ah, Arsenal have finally woken up.

Alexis Sanchez fires ther first shot on target from the edge of the box, but ex-Gunners goalkeeper Lukasz Fabianski gets down well to smother the Chilean's rasping drive.

Bland contest so far, very bland. Needs a bit of spice adding to it.

Arsenal have their first decent spell of possession but they cannot get the ball through to frontman Olivier Giroud.

Playmaker Mesut Ozil is often dropping deep into his own half to collect the ball - and displays a neat Cruyff turn - but he is not going to affect the game from there.

All very comfortable for Swansea at the moment.

Swansea have made a bright start to this game, which has made for a lively atmosphere inside the Liberty Stadium.

The anxiety and toxicity of recent weeks have gone for now - and new head coach Paul Clement will be encouraged by what he's seen and heard so far.

Awful defending from Arsenal defender Laurent Koscielny, who sells partner Shkodran Mustafi short with a header.

The German has to scramble to get the ball away for a corner, with Gylfi Sigurdsson attempting to sneak in.

Koscielny and Arsene Wenger breathe a sigh of relief as the corner kick comes to nothing.

A sloppy start made by the visitors.

Olivier Giroud's stats make for impressive reading.

The Arsenal striker has scored 12 goals from his past 17 shots on target in all competitions, netting in each of his past eight starts.

    Swansea have been warned.

Paul Clement will be liking the look of this.

Winger Wayne Routledge does well to engage a couple of Arsenal defenders before laying the ball across the edge of the box to Gylfi Sigurdsson, but the Icelander cannot keep his shot down.

Swansea have had the better of the chances so far.

    Spoke too soon.

First chance of the game goes to Swansea and they are a whisker away from opening the scoring.

Full-back Kyle Naughton starts the move and nearly finishes it, but his low drive is pushed away by Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech, who was at full stretch to his right.

From the resulting corner, skipper Jack Cork miscues a shot over the bar.

    Encouraging signs for Paul Clement.

If Arsenal don't win today then they are all but out of the title race.

Olivier Giroud, Laurent Koscielny and Francis Coquelin have signed new contracts but the ones they want are Alexis Sanchez and Mesut Ozil.

I think one will stay and one will go - Sanchez is loved at Arsenal the way he wasn't at Barcelona, he's a player that needs to be loved.

Mesut Ozil has a level of intelligence that he might want to try a different culture and go somewhere else. Arsene Wenger will work hard to get both of them to sign though.

Arsenal are eight points off the pace going into this match, so it's already getting into 'must-win' territory for the Gunners.

No chances to speak of for either side so far.

Paul Clement gets a warm reception from the Swansea City fans as he takes to the dugout for his first game in charge.

Whereas this is his first Premier League match as a manager, his opposite number - Arsenal Wenger - has been prowling the touchline for more than 20 years.

Unlike his predecessor Bob Bradley, who started his Swansea reign in a round-neck black jumper, Clement has followed Wenger's lead with a suit and smart long overcoat.

Officially, this is Paul Clement's first league game in charge, with Arsenal providing the opposition - just as they did at the start of predecessor Bob Bradley's short reign.

Clement will hope the similarities end there because the last encounter with the Gunners in October resulted in a 3-2 defeat.

Swansea were in the bottom three then and remain there now. They should be fired up by the presence of a new man with new ideas, but for now he will have to work with the same players.

Arsenal have claimed just one point from their last three Premier League away games and could hardly have left it later against Bournemouth in salvaging a 3-3 draw, but they have won on three of their last four visits to the Liberty Stadium.
