Arsenal boss Arsene Wengerasked if his future could dictate whether Mesut Ozil signs a new contract: "No, not necessarily. He would like to know what happens on the managerial front of course, but I don't think that's the main part of his decision.

"I think it's part of it, but it's not the only thing. There are many other ingredients in every negotiation. Hopefully we will find a conclusion with him very quickly.

"Let's not forget that all these players [Ozil and Alexis Sanchez] have 18 months to go [on their contracts]. That's a very long time in football."

It's a huge afternoon for Swansea, they need to start winning games.

There are plenty of points to play for but they way they've been defending, the fans won't be feeling confident.

Paul Clement has to get it right and has to get it right early on.

Swansea City's new head coach Paul Clement has already made one signing since his appointment earlier this month, with Dutch international winger Luciano Narsingh joining from PSV Eindhoven.

It looks like there could be another two new arrivals next week, with Tottenham midfielder Tom Carroll - who spent the 2014-15 season on loan at Swansea - and Norwich left-back Martin Olsson close to completing their transfers.

Carroll's deal is worth around £4.5m, while the fee for Olsson is thought to be £4m.

Swansea head coach Paul Clement on the appointment of Claude Makelele as his assistant: "He will bring a different dynamic to the backroom staff.

"I knew him briefly as a player at Chelsea, but much better when we worked together as assistants at Paris St-Germain.

"We both assisted Carlo Ancelotti and worked together for 18 months. He has a wealth of experience of playing at the highest level.

"He understands the game. He knows and smells football and is very good with people as well."

I think Paul Clement will have given Swansea assurances that he will stick with them if they do go down and Swansea will have told him he will be their man to bring them back up.

So they've safeguarded themselves but they still don't want to go down - they're only a point behind Crystal Palace and four points behind Middlesbrough.

A lot of people have written Swansea off but there are far too many points to play for.

Paul Clement's impressive CV includes some of the biggest clubs in the world, but the Englishman has now rocked up at Swansea.

He is the Welsh side's third boss of the season and they are in trouble at the wrong end of the Premier League table.

He's won Champions League and Premier League titles, but keeping the Swans afloat come May could well turn into Clement's greatest achievement.
