no-one: If Arsenal keep playing like this, we have a great chance against Lincoln this weekend.

Sule: Why can't Arsenal play like this every week. It's so frustrating.

Joe Giacomelli: Makes first leg all the more disappointing. We CAN compete, just sometimes mentally weak @aaronramsey superb so far.

Huge chance for Arsenal and they've not taken it.

Aaron Ramsey's hanging cross finds Olivier Giroud unmarked eight yards but the French striker heads agonisingly on to the roof of the net.

They have to take these chances.

  3. KICK-OFFpublished at 20:51 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2017

Napoli 1-0 Real Madrid (2-3 agg)

A clean sheet and one more goal, 45 minutes left to do it for Napoli.

The last back line to keep Real Madrid out for an entire game was...Manchester City on 26 April 2016 in the Champions League semi-final first leg.

A fine performance from Joe Hart was the difference.

Bayern are so dangerous on the counter - they’ve got that cutting edge and Arsenal have been fortunate to get away with it on a couple of occasions.

Arsenal have also missed a few chances at the other end. When you've got Olivier Giroud in the team you've got that presence in the box. But the ball into him has often hit the first man, and when it does arrive he should make more of an effort.

Fine first-half display from Arsenal and a deserved lead. It has been very well-received by their fans - but once again it has "too little too late" written all over it.

No signs of dissent, or the banners brandished by protestors before kick-off, inside Emirates Stadium.

The barrage of toilet rolls that flew on to the pitch from the Bayern Munich end could well have been in protest at the ticket prices at the Emirates.

Bayern fans arrived late for a Champions League group game against the Gunners last season in protest at the prices.

And it seems they've rolled out the loo paper to express their disdain once more.

Napoli 1-0 Real Madrid (2-3 agg)

Real Madrid need a serious half-time talk. They've been starved of possession by an eager and well-drilled Napoli side.

Chances have been few and far between for Real despite Cristiano Ronaldo and Gareth Bale coming back into the side.

Napoli need to keep up this intensity - they need just one more goal, and to keep a clean sheet, to reach the quarter-finals for the first time in their history.

They might regret those missed first-half opportunities though. Real, who have scored in their last 46 games, will surely pull themselves together?

Free-kick to Arsenal 25 yards out. Alexis Sanchez is taking charge. A second goal now would be very handy. In he comes...it clears the wall but it's straight at Manuel Neuer.

Arturo Vidal goes in hard on Alexis Sanchez. How was that not a yellow? No penalty and dodgy decisions...this ref is certainly not endearing himself with home fans.

  14. Same old story?published at 20:27 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2017

    Phil McNulty
    BBC Sport chief football writer

Arsenal still posing most of the danger but this has all the makings of the old, old Champions League story for the Gunners.

Leave themselves far too much to do before making a plucky exit. Tough to tell a hard luck story seven seasons in succession.

    Napoli 1-0 Real Madrid

A tale of two posts in Naples.

In a match of tight margins, both sides have hit the post in the last 10 minutes.

Firstly Karim Benzema put a beautiful through-ball to Cristiano Ronaldo, who rounded Pepe Reina and...hit the post. An uncharacteristic miss in front of an open goal from the prolific striker.

But Napoli had a chance of their own and it's Dries Mertens again. The ball richocheted to him inside the area but the Belgian's right-footed shot across goal hit the outside of the post.

  16. Postpublished at 40 mins

    Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Major scare as Robert Lewandowski gets his first proper sight of goal inside the area. He scuffs it and Arsenal survive.

It's getting tetchy out there. Theo Walcott is booked after he shoves the ball into David Alaba's chest after being tripped by the Bayern man.

Alba's name also goes into the referee's notebook.

Should Arsenal have had a penalty? Make no mistake, Arsene Wenger is going to bring that incident up post-match. Alonso got his timing all wrong there and the Gunners can count themselves unfortunate. Bayern are rattled.

    Arsenal 1-0 Bayern Munich

Another roar goes up as Theo Walott wins a corner after his early cross is hacked behind by Mats Hummels.

Arsenal want a penalty when Walcott goes down under Xabi Alonso's clumsy challenge following Oxlade-Chamberlain's threaded pass.

The Gunners have a case. The Greek official is not interested.

  20. Mertens pulls one backpublished at 20:16 Greenwich Mean Time 7 March 2017

Napoli 1-0 Real Madrid (2-3 agg)

Arsenal started their comeback, and Napoli have followed suit.

The Italian side have dominated possession from the off in this one and it's only taken them 24 minutes to find the back of the net.

It's that man again, Dries Mertens.

It was his brace that earned Napoli a win at Roma at the weekend and he's added another to his goal tally for the season here.
