Napoli fans have taken the meaning of turning up early for a game to a whole new level.

Around 20,000 were in their seats for the visit of European champions Real Madrid FOUR HOURS before kick-off at Stadio San Paolo.

    Now that's dedication.

The Italian side have work to do if they are to produce a shock. They trail Real 3-1 from the first leg.

Arsenal gave AC Milan a fright almost five years ago to the day here at the Emirates when they went 3-0 up trying to claw back a 4-0 first leg deficit - but this sort of excitement looks well beyond this current side.

Bayern Munich could almost be said to have let Arsenal off the hook by only beating them 5-1 in the first leg at the Allianz Arena.

With Arsenal's top four place in the Premier League under threat, could this be their last appearance in the Champions League for some time?

Tonight's other Champions League tie is taking place in Italy, where Napoli must overcome a 3-1 first leg deficit against European champions Real Madrid.

What are the chances of them doing that?

"About 3%," says Napoli boss Maurizio Sarri.

"It's an almost impossible game for us because Real Madrid score all the time."

From 5-1 down to winning the Uefa Cup...Real Madrid's players celebrate their 1985-86 triumph

The year is 1985. Everton are champions of England and the great and good of music come together for Live Aid in London and Philadelphia.

Over in Germany, there is a huge football story developing. Real Madrid, the then six-time champions of Europe, are hammered 5-1 by Borussia Monchengladbach in the Uefa Cup.

Two weeks later in Spain's capital Real fans gather at the Bernabeu for the second leg fully expecting to see their team eliminated from the competition.

Instead they witness one of the great European comebacks as the hosts win 4-0 to advance on the away goals rule...before going on to win the competition in May 1986.

    Hope for Arsenal? Probably not.

    Arsenal

Hello and welcome to what surely is mission impossible for Arsenal and Arsene Wenger.

A disastrous second half display away to Bayern Munich three weeks ago - when they conceded four times in 35 minutes - means the Gunners start the return leg 5-1 behind and with little chance of progressing to the quarter-finals.

But there is hope. No, really...
