Phil Taylor, London: This game proves that Jose is the wrong man. He is so defensive, which is not Manchester United. And Sir Alex was never afraid to drop a player. Zlatan has done nothing all game and after he will take all the credit, why not drop him for one or two games? He has missed so many one on ones already this season.

Sublime skills from Marouane Fellaini, controlling the ball on his chest before flicking the ball over Aleksandr Erokhin.

That would not have been out of place in a Zinedine Zidane showreel.

Paul Vickers: I think Uefa need to look into Rojo's banana. What odds were offered on him eating on the pitch? #suttonunited #WayneShaw

Man Utd 1-0 Rostov (agg: 2-1)

    What a save!

Sergio Romero has pulled out a stunning stop to deny Aleksandr Bukharov, who flicked a header towards the far bottom corner from Christian Noboa's clipped cross.

Rostov were inches away from a leveller. Is that the best chance they will get in this match?

That Juan Mata goal has put Manchester United on course for their first Europa League/Uefa Cup quarter-final since 1985.

Their opponents on that occasion were Hungarian league side Videoton, now managed by Henning Berg, who was part of United's 1998-99 Treble-winning squad.

United will hope for better luck than Ron Atkinson had then. They lost on penalties.

Nothing changes for Rostov, they still need to score.

If they do, the match goes to extra time.

    None of us need that.

    Literally.

Man Utd 1-0 Rostov (agg: 2-1)

They have huffed and puffed all match and finally get the breakthrough.

United were on the back foot for a while, but broke clear through Zlatan Ibrahimovic's pass to Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian kept his cool and slotted a cross into the area for Ibrahimovic to backheel on and waiting at the back post was Juan Mata to tuck into an open net.
