And Anderlecht do get a glorious chance.

A bit of pinball sees Kara Mbodji head the ball back into the six yard box towards Frank Acheampong.

The Anderlecht man flicks an effort on, which is heading to the bottom corner, but Sergio Romero - cool as you like - collects the ball.

Marcus Rashford has had a hand in four goals in his last four appearances for United. That's as many as he had in his previous 33 games.

Marcus Rashford has been world class tonight, the way he has gone past people. His performance has been magnificent.

The future for England with Rashford and Dele Alli is bright if they can produce on the international stage.

Stuart Mitchell: I'll call this one very early. Marcus Rashford will break Wayne Rooney's goal scoring record at Man Utd.

KN: Let's lock it up now. A second Anderlecht goal will knock us out. Chance for a breakaway goal though.

Poor finish from Paul Pogba, as the ball drops to his feet inside the box.

The Frenchman's low shot lacks power and Ruben Martinez can get down to his right to push the ball to safety.

He should have put the game to bed there.

10 minutes left, no penalties remember. Can United close the game out?

A brilliant goal by Marcus Rashford. His composure, the way he controlled the ball, the Cruyff turn to set himself... A lovely bit of skill. It is a deserved lead.

Rashford has been magnificent. He is a real superstar.

    Old Trafford erupts.

Daley Blind plays a long ball to the head of Marouane Fellaini, who finds Marcus Rashford with his knock down.

The United striker has plenty to do, but generates his opening brilliantly with a drag back which puts two Anderlecht players out of the game.

Onto his left, Rashford strokes the ball into the back of the net before wheeling off in front of the Stretford End to celebrate.

It has been fascinating, brilliant to watch. But Manchester United are again missing chances. Anderlecht's best opportunity is getting to penalties.

    Oooof, nearly a howler.

Youri Tielemans lets fly with a low, rasping strike from outside the box, it is straight at Sergio Romero who spills it, but gets up quickly enough to gather at the second attempt.
