Arsenal midfielder Aaron Ramsey on BBC Radio 5 live: "I love this competition. We have been quite successful in recent years and you can see the passion that the players play with. We went behind and kept on going and got a result.

"I made the mistake for the goal. I know in these situations you have to respond. I carried on trying to work my socks off and ultimately it paid off.

"That is the second time we played this formation credit, to the boys. We have shown the character we have in this team.

"It was important to win today, to have something to look forward to. But now we have another seven cup finals to try and get into the top four. 

"We have let him [Arsene Wenger] down at times this season, we want to win it for him and ourselves."

Manchester City made 743 passes today, 358 more than Arsenal, with Yaya Toure playing 132 of them.

Granit Xhaka was Arsenal's main distributor, on 49.

A few Arsenal players had question marks over them but they stood up today.

Gabriel, Holding, Xhaka, Ramsey - they were some really stand out performers.

It was not the most beautiful performance but when they needed to dig in they got through it.

So we now know who the finalists in the FA Cup are - following on from the semi-finals of the FA People's Cup.

Credit has to go to Arsene Wenger.

He earmarked this game. He knew he had to change the system to get through and adapted last week against Middlesbrough - that didn't go too well.

Today it was a completely different Arsenal. They were solid at the back. They broke forward and looked dangerous, particularly in the second half.

Tactically it was an all round good display.

Alexis Sanchez had one shot in the whole game. Clinical.

The big chance in extra time for Manchester City. Fabian Delph - denied. 

Credit to Arsenal, they were not at the races in an attacking sense for large periods but they have found a way to get over the line. 

Arsenal will play Chelsea in the FA Cup final! 

Joshua Dagnall: This game really sums up Manchester city's season. So much control but let down by pedestrian attacks and mistakes. 

Into added time. Pep Guardiola looks like ending the season trophyless. A new sensation for him as a manager.

Still no sign of City lumping it long. It's patient build up to the end.

Arsenal break away, over halfway, to Mesut Ozil, his languid style walks into the area - Leroy Sane makes a tackle! Did he get the ball? No penalty given as a tired Yaya Toure then bends wide.
