    Juventus 0-0 Monaco (agg: 2-0)

Monaco need a fast start and they have come haring out of the traps.

Joao Moutinho whips a fiendish delivery into the penalty area towards the head of Radamel Falcao.

Gianluigi Buffon comes rushing from goal, misses his punch but, fortunately for Juve, Falcao is sufficiently put off/squashed not to make contact with the cross.

Hang on. A quick swap to the Monaco starting XI.

Nabil Dirar has been injured in the warm-up and left-back Benjamin Mendy, who was missing at the weekend through injury, has been promoted from the bench in his place.

Heck of an atmosphere brewing inside Juventus Stadium.

The home stands have been transformed into a furious flutter of black-and-white flags.

Some clanging metallic tune greets the teams' arrival on the pitch and a mosiac that declares, in English, 'Time for Cardiff'.

That's where the final is being held. They are not eyeing a reprisal of the Anglo-Italian Cup.

BBC Radio 5 live's special marking 25 years since Howard Wilkinson led Leeds to the title has just started.

Birmingham boss Harry Redknapp has already had his say on why no Englishman has yet followed Wilkinson in lifting the top pot.

And it boils down to anti-English public relations spin.

"It's sexy to have a foreign manager," he told.

"Owners think he was so and so, or he played for him, he managed this club when, in reality, they are no better than what our lads are.

"It's my honest belief that if you put Sean Dyche in charge of a top six club, they will still be in the top six. If you put any of the top six managers down at Burnley, they won't do any better than what he's done."

Bernie R: Far too early to judge Mbappe, and find it hard to believe any club would pay £85m for him, Higuain a top striker though

Monaco's Champions League campaign began way back on 27 July with a 2-1 defeat away to Fenerbahce in the third qualifying round.

Leonardo Jardim says that regardless of the result tonight, his side have done him proud.

"They have shown the football world a lot," he said.

"Nobody believed in July we would reach the group stage. Now we want to continue with our dreams. We will make the most of this game and do everything to ensure that it is not our last."

Juventus have been to the Champions League final just two years ago of course.

With Dani Alves playing for the Spanish side, Barcelona ran out 3-1 winners.

But Giorgio Chiellini believes this time it is different for the Old Lady.

"We showed maybe a little too much respect to Barcelona in the final and that showed in our performance," he said.

"This time around we know how to manage the key moments and we have the confidence to go toe to toe with Europe's best in the knowledge that we have what it takes to beat them."

Gianluigi Buffon, 39, was stopping shots for a living when Kylian Mbappe was just a twinkle in his parents' eyes.

L'Equipe have helpfully put their timelines in parallel., external

When Mbappe was still in utero, Buffon was part of the Italy squad knocked out of the quarter-finals of World Cup 1998 by France.

On the day that Mbappe was born, Buffon conceded three times but still ended up on the winning side as Parma beat Empoli 5-3.

As Mbappe started nursery school, Buffon was becoming the world's most expensive goalkeeper in a £23.3m in a move to Juventus.

You get the drift. Buffon is a lot older.

He scored two well-taken goals in the first leg of this tie, but is Gonzalo Higuain of the best three number nines in the world?

With Kylian Mbappe starting, he might not even be the best out-and-out goal-getter on the pitch tonight.

Edinson Cavani has 31 goals in 32 matches.

Robert Lewandowski has 26 in 29.

Edin Dzeko has 25 in 32.

All better totals and strike-rates than Gonzalo Higuain this season.

But Higuain's team-mate Giorgio Chiellini believes the Argentine is among the finest old-fashioned strikers going.

"Higuain is a complete striker," he said. "Surely among the best three nines in the world."

No-one expects Monaco to win the tie, do they?

Former Monaco forward Victor Ikpeba thinks they can

“It's a question of belief," he told BBC World Service. "They don't have anything to lose. We've seen things like this happen before. The impossible is possible in football.

"We know the mentality of Italian teams - defence comes first. But Monaco has the talent to score against this Juventus side.

"If I was in the dressing room before the game I would tell them to play the way they've been playing all season. They should be free. Put it in their minds that the impossible can happen in football. It's a question of belief.”

If Kylian Mbappe and his fellow young guns can make the Champions League final after being squeezed 2-0 by Juventus on home turf it will arguably be a Champions League smash-and-grab comeback to beat all of those.

Firstly, they will have to pull off a comeback on enemy soil.

Only two teams - Ajax in 1996 and Inter Milan in 2011 - have ever won a knockout tie in the competition after losing at home in the first leg. And both of those were only trailing by a single goal.

    Secondly, they are playing Juventus.

Since August 2015, the Italian side have played 102 matches at home and lost only one.
