Birmingham are spending plenty of time trying to chip away at Manchester City, who seem to do it easy at the other end themselves.

Captain Steph Houghton with the latest chance. The defender is lurking at the back post, meets a corner from the right and watches it go wide.

Birmingham City might have a huge task ahead of them to salvage this final, but they are not playing like a team panicked by the task.

Ellen White and Freda Ayisi have seen a good amount of the ball early in the second half.

Birmingham are still calmly playing out from the back.

Freda Ayisi is working her socks off today for Birmingham.

She is strong on the ball again in attack, holds play up nicely on the edge of the box and tries to create something.

More of that needed. Much, much more.

"It's a real tough moment for Marc, his first big game as a manager with a young team.

"He had a quick chat after the third goal and consolidated things, so you never know, he makes a couple of changes at half-time, it's a big occasion, one goal leads to two and then we might have a game on our hands."

Now, for a change of pace we take a moment to look back at the earliest Women's FA Cup experience of one of the game's pioneers.

Sue Lopez played and won the very first cup with Southampton in 1971, 46 years ago. The striker went onto win eight FA Cups with the Saints. Sportshour asked her what memories are of the first final:

“It was extremely exciting for us. We went up to the old Crystal Palace recreation ground.”

“We couldn’t wait, we were all so excited. There were local press people around and also some from national papers. We hadn’t had that before.”

"It's difficult because Birmingham are a very young team - but they just haven't got any field position. They just need to get out of their own half and try to get down the flanks."

"Man City have completely dominated the game and Birmingham have to be more compact and creative in the second half if they have any hope of getting back into this game."

Manchester City are doing it easy at Wembley today.

Carli Lloyd put them 3-0 up after 32 minutes, with their other two goals coming from England internationals Lucy Bronze and Isobel Christiansen.

Apart from a 15-minute spell at the start the match, Birmingham City have been completely outplayed.

"I just think sometimes you've got to play the occasion and Birmingham's lack of experience is starting to tell. Has the occasion got to some of these players? Ellen White is going to have pick them up.

"I think Blues boss Marc Skinner will be saying at half-time, 'you've got yourself into some great positions, but you've just got to do something with it'."

The Women's FA Cup final in the past few years has cried out for something special.

    Carli Lloyd is supplying it.

Every time she gets on the ball, there is a sense of anticipation.

She starts a neat which eventually finds Lucy Bronze, but the shot is well wide.

She goes for the spectacular and lifts the ball high wide and all things in between. No harm done there.

There was an on-pitch inquest by Birmingham after that third goal. But this game already looks well out of reach and it's difficult to think what they can possibly do to get back in it.

They can't cope with City's movement and ability to stretch play. And City's set-piece superiority and aggressive defending is also stopping Blues from getting any sort of decent spell of possession to relieve the pressure.

Birmingham's fans are not giving up hope though; they are still making a decent amount of noise despite their team's horrible start.

Now, as we collect our thoughts for a moment we can rewind to the third goal.

It was typical of this game so far. Manchester City attacking in fierce waves.

Melissa Lawley had forced Ann-Katrin Berger into a save, which led to the corner which ended with Carli Lloyd making it 3-0.

Looks like we have some running repairs needed for Manchester City's Lucy Bronze. The left-back seems to have taken some sort of knock to the eye.

    Carli Lloyd

    Carli Lloyd!

This final had the two-time Women's World Footballer of the Year's name all over it, and she had made her mark.

A deep, deep cross into the box from Megan Campbell finds the United States international at the back post.

She rises highest and nods past goalkeeper Ann-Katrin Berger, who was completely snatching at shadows.
