We asked for those who really should've won the Champions League at least once - and maybe those who can count themselves fortunate...

Chelsea's starting 11 in 2012 included Salomon Kalou, Jose Bosingwa and Ryan Bertrand at left wing who are pretty unlikely winners

I won't hear a bad word said about Biscan. A silky midfielder, not a centre back though. Can't believe he didn't start... Djimi Traore on the other hand. His wonder own goal against Burnley about sums him up.

The debate about whether Gareth Bale or Isco should be named in Zinedine Zidane's starting line-up has been the talking point in Spain in the build-up.

And more significantly, it has become much more than a debate about this game, with Bale's longer-term future at the Bernabeu under more scrutiny than at any other time since he arrived from Tottenham for a world-record fee four years ago.

Writing in Marca on Monday, for example, Roberto Palomar headlined his article: "And what if selling Bale isn't such a bad idea?"

He claimed that "in time, his absence stops being a problem" and also argued that, for Real fans, the sight of Isco, Marco Asensio or Nacho watching from the stands is "more painful" than the absence of Bale, who "doesn't even provoke nostalgia".

For years it has eluded the top teams in Europe. Is Zinedine Zidane the man to make it happen?

He is everything, the personification of a professional. He stayed with Juve when they went into Serie B. He is genuinely a good guy who everyone wants to see have this fairytale. He has a human element to him. He really leads the team, pushes them forwards and is the authority at the back.

His longevity speaks volumes. He deserves the trophy that he has coveted for such a long time.

Real Madrid and Wales forward Gareth Bale is one of the "best British players of all time", says former England striker Gary Lineker.

Since joining the Spanish giants from Tottenham for £85m in 2013, Bale has won a La Liga title, two Champions Leagues and the Copa del Rey.

The 27-year-old has scored 67 goals in 149 appearances for Los Blancos.

"I'd put him right up there," said Match of the Day presenter Lineker. "He has certainly got to be in the top 10."

Nobody has won more than six European Cup titles as a player, and none of tonight's stars can quite reach that figure.

But Juventus right-back Dani Alves can move on to four (level with Phil Neal), as can Cristiano Ronaldo.

Alves has lifted the trophy with Barcelona in 2009, 2011 and 2015, while Ronaldo won it with Manchester United in 2008, and with Real in 2014 and 2016.

If Gareth Bale wins his third trophy he'll become the most decorated Welshman, moving ahead of Joey Jones and Ryan Giggs.

While Gareth Bale may struggle to adapt to the new 4-4-2 diamond system at Real, it has been tailor-made for Isco to finally start to fulfil his undoubted potential. The Spain international and Cristiano Ronaldo have been Real's best players for the past few weeks.

Isco's technical ability, graceful style and good-humoured personality have always made him extremely popular with Real fans, who can be heard singing the 25-year-old's name far more regularly than Bale's.

Now there's overwhelming support for the opinion that he should start ahead of the Welshman - not just this weekend, but for good.

An article in Marca claimed it would be "the greatest injustice in memory" if Isco wasn't picked tonight, while a piece in El Pais underlined the Spaniard's greater suitability for the congested spaces of a midfield diamond - with the headline 'Footballer Isco; player Bale'., external
