  1. 'We had to play differently'published at 22:18 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Arsenal 1-2 Watford

    Watford

Watford boss Walter Mazzarri: "I had to take some decisions on the game and formation after the Millwall defeat and we had to play differently which showed with our performance today.

"We played a great first half and the condition of some of the players is returning. In the second half, Arsenal managed to press us but in general it was very well done.

"Against a great team in their stadium, you cannot allow them to play too much of the ball and you have to press them. We did that very well but you cannot do it for 90 minutes. That was our tactic.

"I want to wish Odion Ighalo good luck because he is a great player and professional. I am very happy with our January signings in M'Baye Niang and Mauro Zarate and I have to do the best with that."

  2. 'We missed two points'published at 22:16 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Sunderland 0-0 Tottenham

Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino: “We are disappointed because I think we missed two points.

"In the first half it was difficult for us to create chances, which was strange, but in the second half we played better and we had the chances to win the game.

"It was not a good night for us but it is a good thing for us to learn that we need to play from the beginning of the game with the same aggression and attitude we showed in the second half."

  3. What's going wrong for Liverpool?published at 22:13 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender on Radio 5 live

Liverpool don’t spread the ball wide, they don’t have the ability to get it into the box and score headers – they’re a little bit predictable. So you know how to defend against them before the match.

If you control the space between your two central defenders and central midfielders, you pretty much control Liverpool.

You feel like Liverpool need to score a really special goal through Coutinho or Lallana to get into games at the moment.

  4. 'Poor from us'published at 22:10 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Sunderland 0-0 Tottenham

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino: "We only had one shot on target in the first half and that is poor from us. The second half were much better and created chances but not enough to win the game. The clean sheet is important but not change my feelings - we are disappointed."

  5. 'We were unlucky'published at 22:08 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

Chelsea defender David Luiz: "It is never easy to play here at Anfield and win points. We had an opportunity to win game, and we're unlucky we didn't win it. But it was a good result."

On scoring with a quick-thinking free-kick: "Sometimes you need to try the surprise. I'm not in the best position to take free-kicks because my knee is hurting and I can't train every day, but in a game you need to see the opportunity. I'm pleased I scored."

  8. It was a good point - Karankapublished at 22:05 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Middlesbrough 1-1 West Brom

Middlesbrough boss Aitor Karanka: "I think it was a good point. We had chances to score and have conceded a goal in a way we knew. It is frustrating. West Brom are a strong team and we played with everything. I am proud of the players. As a coach, they have done everything.

"The reaction was good. We had the game under control against a strong team. A point is fair for everybody. The opponent have a lot of experience and good players. Sometimes you can't stop them. But everybody has been brilliant. We need to forget the league position. We know we have many more games to play."

    Danny Mills
Ex-England defender on Radio 5 live

Someone always gets dragged into the relegation battle, and I feel now that everybody from Middlesbrough and below are in danger of the drop. Everybody above them, I think, are safe.

Tom: I know it's not much but of the teams that have played 23 games, Swansea have the best record in the last four. I'm taking that right now.

  12. We deserved three points - Mignoletpublished at 21:59 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

Liverpool hero/villain Simon Mignolet on his late penalty save: "I'm happy that I could make the save. But the feeling is we're disappointed not to take three points. If we feel like that against Chelsea who are leading and scoring a lot of goals then it shows how hungry we are. I think we deserved three points."

On being caught out by David Luiz's quick free-kick: "I didn't hear the whistle and he hit it early. It is a difficult feeling. He hit it well but I'm disappointed."

Here's how it looks at the top of the table after tonight's games. It was a good night for the two Manchester clubs as all the sides above them dropped points. Arsenal are down to third following their surprise defeat at home to Watford.

BtheG: When you think they will close the gap, Arsenal always blow it. Is it a curse?

KoloKK: Only positive from this game for Liverpool is Mignolet proving that he is slightly better than Karius.

Robbie Edwards: One giant step towards the title for Conte and his Chelsea. Beat Arsenal on Saturday and it's virtually theirs.

Patrick Powell: Tottenham missed a trick by drawing 0-0 against Sunderland. They could have done with the points.

  15. Manager reactionpublished at 21:57 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Swansea 2-1 Southampton

    Southampton

Southampton boss Claude Puel: "A good second half but perhaps it was too late. We cannot take a positive when you lose a game. All the players can have a recovery. It was not sufficient for us in the same half without a good concentration and application of our football. The second half was a good reaction, a good try but they played clinically tonight and have been rewarded."

  16. 'It was like a cup final'published at 21:54 Greenwich Mean Time 31 January 2017

    Liverpool 1-1 Chelsea

    Chris Waddle
Ex-England winger, BBC Radio 5 live at Anfield

Chelsea should have won it with the penalty, but you've got to say Liverpool deserved the point.

It was like a cup final, end-to-end and Liverpool really felt the pace after playing with such tempo at the end, they put in some shift.

The quality if you watched this match again probably wouldn't be very high, but it was a fantastic game to watch, and the atmosphere in the stadium has been excellent.
