Hello! This is the transfer deadline day where we can actually concentrate on the thing which really matters. Games. And we've got seven of them in the Premier League tonight, plus a boatload more in the EFL.

Although we say that the actual football will be taking priority. Don't be surprised to see Big Sam answering his blower on the touchline midway through the first half at Dean Court.

Even the people responsible for planning the fixtures are bored of the circus which transfer deadline day has become, it seems. 

Football is no longer the sideshow to struggling Premier League clubs signing players you've barely heard of and Football League clubs signing players you've definitely never heard of. And let's not even get started on yellow tie-wearing television presenters trying to make these dud deals sound bigger than The Wolf of Wall Street.

Every year there are certain days which are over-hyped, overrated and leave everyone vastly underwhelmed. And they have a common theme: panic buying.

People are whipped into a frenzy by the promise of great deals, duped into believing they need something that don't really need and, in some cases, don't even want.

They end up having a good browse around, sifting through the dregs no-one else is interested in.

"Oh well, we've come this far. Might as well, eh? It'll prove to be a good buy in the long run."

Then they wake up the next morning, full of regret and checking the bank balance. 

"Should I have really bought that?"

Boxing Day. Black Friday. Transfer deadline day. They're all the same...
