  1. 'We wanted to come out flying'published at 17:01 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Everton 6-3 Bournemouth

    Everton

Romelu Lukaku, who scored four today: "We started well, we did what we had to do. It’s disappointing we conceded the goals, but we showed mental resilience.

"We said we wanted to come out flying, we worked on it all week. We were sharp and we continued pressing. 3-0 at half-time was good, but after half-time we weren’t mentally sharp.

"We need to see the clips again because if you want to improve we need to get rid of the little problems.

"There’s no lack of confidence. We know that hard work pays off.

"We have to believe that we can catch the teams ahead of us. We need to keep on winning and working hard for each other."

    Everton 6-3 Bournemouth

Pick the bones out of that lot.

Superb entertainment at Goodison Park, with Romelu Lukaku the star attraction.

I'm off for a lie down.

  3. goal

GOAL for Evertonpublished at 90+4 mins

    Ross Barkley

It's 6-3 and it's gone to Ross Barkley.

Bournemouth's defence appears to have given up and gone home for the day, allowing Barkley to take the ball around the on-rushing Artur Boruc and slot the ball into the net.

Before he did, however, Barkley took the unusual step of celebrating before scoring.

I have never seen that before. Brilliant stuff.

  4. goal

    Harry Arter

Egads, what is going on this afternoon? My poor fingers cannot cope.

Harry Arter has pulled another one back for Bournemouth from on the goal-line. Replays actually show the ball went out of play before the midfielder tucked it home but it shouldn't matter to the final outcome.

  6. goal

GOAL for Evertonpublished at 83 mins

    Romelu Lukaku

    Four for the big striker!

This is harsh on Bournemouth based on their second-half display, but in truth more like what we expected the final outcome to be in the first half.

Ross Barkley's backpass sets Lukaku on his way and he shows trademark strength to brush off his marker before finishing coolly beyond Boruc.

  7. goal

GOAL for Evertonpublished at 80 mins

    Romelu Lukaku

That's the hat-trick, and that is probably that.

Seamus Coleman sends over a cross from the right and it's an easy take on the volley for Romelu Lukaku, who steers home beyond the exposed Artur Boruc.

    He's been superb today.

  8. Great save!published at 73 mins

    Everton 3-2 Bournemouth

Bournemouth are really hammering on the door here and Joel Robles is forced to make two saves in quick succession.

First Harry Arter's low drive is palmed away by the home goalkeeper for a corner, from which the ball breaks to Arter again and his shot brings an even better stop from Robles.

Amazing stuff. Everton's fans will not be able to believe what they are seeing. This game was over.

  9. CLOSE!published at 72 mins

    Everton 3-2 Bournemouth

That was so nearly the equaliser!

The visitors are coming forward at will now and Everton, so assured before, look incredibly jittery.

The ball comes to Marc Pugh in the box and he cuts inside before flashing a shot just over the bar.

    Everton hearts in mouths.

  10. 'Game on!'published at 16:30 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Everton 3-2 Bournemouth

    Trevor Sinclair
Ex-Man City & West Ham winger on Final Score

Josh King has been outstanding, he has such good movement in the box.

You talk about managers throwing the tea cups - I reckon Eddie Howe may have delved into that managerial tactic at half-time.

    Game on!

    Joshua King

Wow. This did not look likely at half-time - and that's putting it mildly.

The Cherries were dead and buried in this match but here they are right back in it.

Ryan Fraser does well down the right, beating his man and sending over a low cross that Josh King turns home.

  12. CLOSE!published at 60 mins

    Everton 3-1 Bournemouth

Everton very nearly restore their three-goal lead within a minute - and probably should have done.

Straight from kick-off they pressure the visiting defence and the ball comes to James McCarthy, who fails to connect with his shot and allows Artur Boruc to make an unconvincing save.

The ball spins in the air for Ademola Lookman to attempt a shot from a tight angle, but he finds the side-netting.

  13. goal

GOAL for Bournemouthpublished at 59 mins

    Joshua King

    Oh, hello.

Well you can't say Bournemouth don't deserve this on the balance of play in this half.

Jack Wilshere lofts a ball into the area and it's controlled nicely on the chest by Joshua King under pressure from Everton's defenders before poking the ball beyond Robles.

  14. Postpublished at 55 mins

    Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

Ademola Lookman is enjoying himself out there -  plenty of tricks and flicks on show. And replays show he's peacocking around with one of his laces undone.

    Maybe that's his secret?

  15. CLOSE!published at 52 mins

    Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

    Very nearly four for Everton.

Ross Barkley advances and drills a low shot that catches a Bournemouth player and just flashes over the bar.

  16. Postpublished at 47 mins

    Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

A much, much better performance so far by Bournemouth.

They've already had a couple of pot shots at the Everton goal, Harry Arter firing the most recent of those just over.

It's a long shot, of course, but Bournemouth won't give this up lightly.

  17. KICK-OFFpublished at 16:03 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

    Off we go again.

Unsurprisingly, Bournemouth have made changes at the break. On come Jordon Ibe and Brad Smith. Dan Gosling and Simon Francis make way.

  18. HALF-TIMEpublished at 15:48 Greenwich Mean Time 4 February 2017

    Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

That was just about as easy a half of football as Everton could have wished for.

There's some big, big problems for Bournemouth boss Eddie Howe to address at the break but you sense it's only about damage-limitation from this point.

  19. GREAT SAVE!published at 45+1 mins

    Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

It very nearly does come to something for Bournemouth. Jack Wilshere's shot from a free-kick was deflected away for a corner, from which the hosts very nearly go ahead when Steve Cook sees his shot saved by Joel Robles.

  20. Postpublished at 45 mins

    Everton 3-0 Bournemouth

Free-kick to the visitors 30 yards out. One last chance to salvage something from a nightmare half...
