Brighton boss Chris Hughton told Sky Sports:

"We're all realistic and at 10 men you would settle for 1-1.

"We've got that bit of spirit and quality and today we've shown that.

On Anthony Knockaert: "He's been excellent for us with goals and assists after a difficult time. At this stage of the season 10 goals is a great return for a wide player."

Here's the penalty incident in pictorial form.

Glenn Loovens' shot was a very powerful one, but Glenn Murray can't really have many complaints about the award of a penalty.

Thankfully for him, his team went onto win the game.

A fantastic result for Brighton. What a great win, under the pressure they were under with a man down. All of a sudden, the tide turned with quality and work rate.

They've shown the character you need to get promoted out of this league.

    Brighton 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday

A valuable, hard earned three points for Chris Hughton's Brighton despite spending a large chunk of the second-half with 10 men.

Anthony Knockaert's two goals will earn him the headlines but David Stockdale's penalty save and then follow-up stop deserves as much credit.

The Seagulls go top of the Championship, Sheffield Wednesday stay sixth.

Anthony Knockaert's two goals are sending Brighton to the top of the league.

    Brighton 2-1 Sheffield Wednesday

I spoke about the tension and it boils over after a Brighton attack.

Steven Fletcher has afters following a challenge from Dale Stephens and leans his head into the Brighton man and is dismissed.

David Stockdale is also shown a yellow card by the referee. It's 10 v 10 now.

    Anthony Knockaert

May I just refer you to the entry on 80 minutes...

Sebastien Pocognoli delivers another perfect cross from the left and Anthony Knockaert stretches at the back stick to turn home.

His 10th goal of the season and the Seagulls are heading to the top of the Championship.

A bit of niggle in the game as we head towards the conclusion.

Lots of appealing, lots of tension.

Sebastien Pocognoli's cross very nearly finds the toes of a stretching Tomer Hemed six yards out.

If it stays like this, Brighton will remain second but go level on points with leaders Newcastle.

A point for Sheffield Wednesday moves them to fourth.

But can either side take three?
