  1. YELLOW CARDpublished at 30 mins

    Brighton 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

After a long chat with his assistant, referee Stuart Attwell has given Sebastien Pocognoli a yellow for his challenge on Jack Hunt.

Brighton full-back Pocognoli wins the ball in the air and it is the momentum which causes the injury. It seems a slightly harsh one on second viewing, although his foot was high and caught Hunt on the knee.

Hunt is carried off on a stretcher and Liam Palmer is on.

This has been a good five-minute spell for the Owls after that Adam Reach shot, dominating on the ball and winning a couple of corners.

A heavy tackle on Jack Hunt stops the game temporarily and full-back needs treatment.

It's going to be a very patient game and if Brighton have a chance, they have to take it. It's going to be difficult to break them down.

    Brighton 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Out of nowhere, Sheffield Wednesday have a chance as Adam Reach races onto a through ball and drills a low shot into the far corner, which is well saved.

Brighton clear the corner but a glimmer of how the Owls can create something out of nothing there.

    Port Vale 1-0 Bury

We have our first goal in the EFL this evening and it's come in League One, where Port Vale have taken the lead against Bury.

Tyler Walker, son of ex-England defender Des, has scored from 20 yards on his debut after joining Vale on loan from Nottingham Forest earlier this week.

I'm sure it is warmer on the south coast compared to Yorkshire, but this Sheffield Wednesday fan I think is taking it a bit too far.

    It is still January sir.

Nothing of note happening on the pitch.

Anthony Knockaert looks the biggest threat of sparking something in this game. He can go both ways, which is a nightmare for a defender.

Better again from the hosts and it is that man Anthony Knockaert again down the right but his low cross into the six-yard box is dealt with by the Sheffield Wednesday defenders.

The French winger looking the most dangerous player on the pitch right now.

Just that early Glenn Murray chance for a sniff of goal for either side so far.

Since then it has all gone a bit dull. Or patient, if you like. Brighton definitely on top in terms of possession.

    Port Vale 0-0 Bury

Alongside our Championship action, there's one game in League One tonight.

It's goalless between Port Vale and Bury at Vale Park - I'll keep you up to date with the score there as the evening progresses.

Well there's some nice passing on show tonight, I can say that.

Other than that, these two are cancelling each other out a bit at the moment. Or it is a great tactical battle. We'll see how it goes.

This is a massive game for Brighton and they cannot lose this one, a draw would be OK but they must keep the point gap to nine from the chasing sides.

Brighton cannot afford any injuries to their strikers tonight, otherwise they will have to do something about it in the window.

A couple of words from the referee to players for mistimed tackles for both sides.

He also tells Owls skipper Glenn Loovens to make sure Kieren Westwood does not take too long over his goal kicks - we're only 10 minutes in!

A floated free-kick into the box is half dealt with by Brighton, but it comes out to Adam Reach who drills a low effort from 25 yards not too far wide.

Bit of possession now for the visitors as they try to take the sting out of that bright start by Brighton.

Both teams playing with two more advanced players up top, you'd like to think they'll be quite a few chances with tactics like that.

Normally you see teams double up on wide players that they think are going to be a threat. Sheffield Wednesday tripled up, and Anthony Knockaert still managed to find a route through.

    Brighton 0-0 Sheffield Wednesday

Brilliant start from Brighton as Anthony Knockeart rounds a couple of defenders and lays in Glenn Murray.

The striker hits it low first time but Keiren Westwood is equal to it and then the follow-up shot from Jamie Murphy.

Brighton have had pain in play-off situations and it's important for them to finish in the top two to avoid the play-off situation they've had in previous seasons.

As for Sheffield Wednesday, sometimes it's easier at the end of the season when you're flying under the radar. You feel happy to be there and the pressure isn't as great as if you've been looking favourites to get automatic promotion. In some ways it can do you a favour.

Chris Hughton is playing Connor Goldson at right-back and I can only think he is going for experience.

Bruno and Sam Baldock both have injuries, and they need to be rested. We only have two fit strikers in the squad.
