Carlisle haven't won since the start of the new year, but they'll fancy their chances of picking up three points today against Accrington, who have been reduced to 10 men.

Matty Pearson is the guilty party, sent off after less than 12 minutes for a high challenge on Macauley Gillesphey.

Elsewhere, Cambridge have scored the first goal of the day in League Two, George Maris has heading the U's in front at Mansfield.

    Derby 0-0 Reading

Gareth McCleary has a shot at goal for the visitors but his effort is high and wide.

    Not a classic, so far.

    Huddersfield 0-0 Ipswich

A strange stat for you - the hosts Huddersfield are one of three Championship sides yet to win a penalty this season, along with Rotherham and Wigan.

Will they get one today against an Ipswich side short on luck and short on form?

  4. Postpublished at 15:09 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    Derby 0-0 Reading

The hosts have started brightly at Pride Park but it remains goalless.

Reading appear set up to attempt to sit back and then threaten on the counter.

Still just the one goal in the entire EFL so far in the 15:00 GMT games...

    Newcastle 0-0 Rotherham

That Birmingham goal at Ewood Park is the only early action of note in the Championship games.

At St James' Park, where the two sides are separated by 39 points, the hosts have the early control of possession.

David Cotterill is brought down by Blackburn keeper Jason Steele, and Lukas Jutkiewicz steps up to fire in the first goal of the 15:00 kick-offs from the penalty spot.

Could Gianfranco Zola be celebrating his first win as Blues boss at full-time? He couldn't have asked for a better start.

  8. Can Reading break Derby down?published at 14:58 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    Derby v Reading (15:00 GMT)

    Tim Dellor
    BBC Berkshire sport editor

Steve Mcclaren's final game in his first stint as Derby manager was a 3-0 home defeat against Reading. That result ensured no end-of-season play-off spot for The Rams.

This time round Reading are six points better off than Derby, but both teams will still fancy their chances of reaching the play-offs.

Derby's incredible run of consecutive clean sheets at home will test Reading, who have at times this season struggled to break down resilient defences.

That was the case during Reading's last game, which they lost to a well-organised QPR team 1-0.

It has been a busy few days in the Championship transfer market and many sides' fans are set to see some new faces this afternoon.

Aston Villa have started midfielder Henri Lansbury after he completed his move from Nottingham Forest, while Villa's midlands rivals Birmingham opted not to give starting debuts to any of their three newest signings.

However, full-back Emilio Nsue is on Gianfranco Zola's bench, along with Turkey winger Kerim Frei.

Elsewhere, Bristol City and Rotherham both have new goalkeepers in action, after German stopper Fabian Giefer joined the Robins on loan in a move which enabled Richard O'Donell to leave the club to join the Millers for an undisclosed fee - both start today.

Derek Adams' men visit lowly Cheltenham as they look to close a four-point gap to leaders Doncaster, who face one of the league's out-of-form sides, Crewe.

Third-placed Carlisle have not enjoyed a fruitful 2017 so far, failing to win any of their three matches, but the Cumbrians' defence may have an easy ride today as they visit the division's lowest scorers Accrington.

Newport County, who are starting to be cut adrift at the bottom, travel to the capital to play Barnet, while their relegation zone pals Notts County are looking for a first win since 22 October with a trip to Grimsby.

Leaders Sheffield United will be looking to bounce back after last Saturday's 4-1 thumping at Walsall ended a six-game winning run. The Blades host out-of-form Gillingham this afternoon.

Fleetwood attempt to make it 10 league games unbeaten at bottom side Coventry and Gary Caldwell takes charge of Chesterfield for the first time - they play AFC Wimbledon, who were dumped out of the FA Cup by Sutton United on Tuesday.

A familiar face has been in the middle of protests outside Nottingham Forest's City Ground before kick-off.

Former Forest striker Stan Collymore joined hundreds of fans protesting against owner Fawaz Al Hasawi and his handling of the sale of the Championship club.

  16. A one-sided affair?published at 14:45 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    Newcastle v Rotherham (15:00 GMT)

Looking at this one on paper, one team is very, very likely to dominate it.

But can Newcastle avoid complacency against a Rotherham side who desperately need to start picking up points?

The Championship's bottom club are six points adrift of 23rd-placed Wigan, and nine below the drop line, having won only four league games this term.

But promotion favourites Newcastle have come unstuck a few times this season at unexpected times, including losing twice to the Millers' fellow strugglers Blackburn.

  17. The worst result in Ipswich's history?published at 14:43 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    Huddersfield v Ipswich (15:00 GMT)

    Graeme McLoughlin
    BBC Radio Suffolk

Ipswich manager Mick McCarthy says Tuesday's loss to non-league Lincoln in the FA Cup was the worst result of his managerial career.

A large number of supporters believe it was the worst result in the club's history.

With that in mind, things surely can't get any worse this weekend at the John Smith's stadium, where few will be backing the Blues to bounce back.

Town are again at the bare bones ahead of kick-off, so much so that Kieffer Moore, who hasn't kicked a ball at this level in nearly three years, could find himself leading the attack at some stage.

  18. Two sides in the huntpublished at 14:41 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

    Derby v Reading (15:00 GMT)

Derby and Reading both have very realistic hopes of a play-off place this season and this fascinating game could go a long way to telling us which of them might finish off the stronger this term.

The Rams and the Royals are six points apart, ahead of today's game.

And seventh-placed Derby will be particularly keen to capitalise on Sheffield Wednesday's loss last night and narrow the gap to the top six.

  19. Championship team newspublished at 14:39 Greenwich Mean Time 21 January 2017

Derby v Reading: Alex Pearce, Marcus Olsson, Will Hughes and Johnny Russell all get recalls by Derby as they look to bounce back form their loss to Leeds last week; Reading give a debut to new signing Tiago illori as one of two changes as Paul McShane comes in for Joey van den berg.

Huddersfield v Ipswich: Huddersfield make two switches as Rajiv van la Parra and Jonathan Hogg come in for Aaron Mooy and Jack Payne; Ipswich boss Mick McCarthy makes four changes as new signing Jordan Spence makes his debut while Dean Gerken replaces the ill Bartosz Bialkowski and there are starts for Freddie Sears and Kevin Bru.

Newcastle v Rotherham: Rafa Benitez makes seven changes and only DeAndre Yedlin, Matt Ritchie, Jonjo Shelvey and Yoan Gouffran survive; The Millers only show two changes form the side which beat Norwich City as goalkeeper Richard O'Donnell makes his debut while defender Aimen Belaid gets the nod.

    RECAP: Brighton 2-1 Sheff Wed

The weekend's EFL action got under way on Friday with Brighton's bid for promotion to the Premier League taking another big step forward as they fought off sixth-placed Sheffield Wednesday.

The game really came to life in an eventful second half which saw three players sent off - including two Owls players seeing red late on after the hosts' 85th-minute winner.

Anthony Knockaert's brace on the night gave 10-man Brighton the win that moved them back to the top of the Championship.
