Victor Moses was on for a pass out wide, but Azpilicueta gets it wrong with his shot. United will be fine with that.

Cesar Azpilicueta seems to be the spare man for Chelsea now, this time shooting high and wide when well placed. The cameras are spending more time on David Beckham in a box than on the pitch.

Good defending from Ashley Young, a dependable foot soldier for Manchester United these days whenever he is called upon. He stops Victor Moses from crossing the ball in.

Cesar Azpilicueta then whips in a ball for Diego Costa to attack and Chris Smalling stays strong.

Set-pieces could be key for Manchester United now. Ashley Young delivers the free-kick - and it's dreadful. Hits the first man.

Ander Herrera was sent off for a second yellow card, both for fouling Eden Hazard. David de Gea made two great saves before that point.

The first foul of the half goes the visitors way as Paul Pogba is tripped.

    Chelsea 0-0 Manchester United

It is 41 home games since Chelsea failed to score in the FA Cup - but that was against Manchester United in their treble-winning season in 1999.

Phil Neville says the only way he can see United winning is if it goes to penalties.

Jose Mourinho likes these moments. He won't like the decisions but it gets him going, gets his team going.

He is at his best in these moments. In the dressing room he might create an 'everyone is against us' mentality. The organisation for him now is massive.

Ruud Gullit's half-time punditry moment is interrupted by the man on the mic for Chelsea. A man in demand.

Manchester United conceded eight fouls in that first half, four of which were on Eden Hazard. He looks to be the key.

Former Manchester United defender on BBC One

I think what Jose will say is to try and disrupt Chelsea even more. He won't change his tactics. Fellaini has come on and he will protect the defence as Herrera did.

  15. 'Hazard lighting up this game'published at 20:39 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2017

Eden Hazard oozes confidence every time he gets the ball. He is the player lighting up this game.

He had the problem of people getting tight to him but he has found a way around it by either his movement or by taking a touch when looking the other way.

I don't see anyone better than David de Gea at the moment. For me, he is the best goalkeeper in the world.

It was a fascinating half. I'm still not sure how Manchester United are playing. They might have five or six at the back, they are always stepping in and getting tight.

When in the heat of the battle, like where Ander Herrera gets his second yellow, you take a view of these moments. In this instance it might not be a yellow card but you should know the referee is ready to book someone after warning them just before.

Sam Batey: United essentially down to 9 men here. A red card and Fellaini is on. Gonna be a rough 2nd half

Tom Jebb : Have people forgot how football is a physical game? It is a contact sport so deal with it and get on with it

Dave Payn: Not a fan of either side but this needed a more experienced ref like Clatts. Oliver made a rod for his own back with red card

  20. 'A stupid red card'published at 20:37 Greenwich Mean Time 13 March 2017

    Alan Shearer
    Ex-England striker on BBC One

It will be very difficult for United in the second half. It has been a brilliant first half, despite no goals.

Should it have been a red for Herrera? Yes for me. He can't complain at the first one. The referee has spoken to them about fouls on Hazard. It is stupid.
