    Danny Welbeck

Danny Welbeck at his best. Arsene Wenger is out of his seat, beam across the chops, hands clapping away in admiration at this remarkable finish.

Played in by a lovely turn from Lucas Perez, the England striker chips over the keeper and in off the underside of the crossbar for Arsenal's opening goal.

It's his first start since May 2016. Rusty? Not a sign of it.

In the past this is where Arsenal have started to fall off, in January, February. They have to hang in, you just have to be there and thereabouts for that one last push in the last six weeks of the season.

There's so much pace out there for Arsenal. Just a bit more composure required.

Ainsley Maitland-Niles is another who just seems to drift across the turf, and Hector Bellerin is no slouch getting forward.

In space on the right, the Spaniard should do better with a low cross looking for a yellow shirt in the box, it's too close for the keeper.

Sam O'Hara: Three players with double-barrelled surnames in a starting lineup has to be record, right?

We're not sure Sam, but it doesn't make our jobs any easier.

Theo Walcott, another former Southampton youngster, fails with a pretty ambitious long pass looking for space far out wide on the left from deep.

There's Arsene Wenger in the crowd. A place up in the posh seats is a world away from the cut and thrust of life on the touchline. He's not sitting comfortably.

I think what we're seeing already is Welbeck, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Walcott and Perez having a little bit more quality in the final third than the Southampton players, that's the difference at the moment.

Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain, on his return to his former club Southampton, shanks a shot wide from range, a really poor effort.

But again it's Jeff Reine-Adelaide with the ball to pick him out. Languid and leggy in the middle of the park. Dare I say Abou Diaby-esque?

Mat VP: This may be one of the quickest Arsenal lineups ever. Maitland-Niles and Reine-Adelaide can both move about.

There are a few unfamiliar faces out there, as Danny suggests, but already Arsenal are finding some lovely connections.

Jeff Reine-Adelaide glides a little pass out wide to Lucas Perez, whose flashed ball across the box isn't quite weighted well enough to find the waiting Danny Welbeck.

I feel that this game is going to start off a little disjointed, it'll take a while for all these players to get used to playing with each other.

Some nice slick early touches from Danny Welbeck on his first start since that knee injury in May 2016. Just over 20 minutes as a sub since then.

Great first sight on goal for Jeff Reine-Adelaide, who's picked out on the edge of the box by Theo Walcott but denied by a flying block from Jack Stephens.

There are some fresh faces in that Southampton huddle. Nineteen-year-old keeper Harry Lewis among them.

Shane Long and Kieran Gibbs are the captains standing first in line behind a row of hands on hips, nervous laughs and chomping jaws.

Here we go. Kick-off moments away now.

Chelsea, Manchester City, Tottenham (just), Oxford United.

They're all already in the FA Cup fifth round. The last 16 if you prefer.

Which of these will join them?

    Mark Lawrenson
    Former Liverpool defender

Southampton thoroughly deserved to beat Liverpool in the EFL Cup. Over the two legs, if they had won 4-0 it would have been a fair reflection of the games.

After that, though, this tie is a big ask for Saints. Defeat is not the end of the world for Claude Puel because it would jut be looked upon as a blip.

Saints have not conceded a goal in five ties of the EFL Cup - including a 2-0 win over Arsenal in the quarter-finals. which is a great achievement.

But I still think Arsenal will be ready for them. The Gunners have not played this week, which might make a big difference.

    Lawro's prediction: 0-2

  20. Where's Wenger?published at 17:15 Greenwich Mean Time 28 January 2017

    Southampton v Arsenal (17:30 GMT)

There's no Arsene Wenger on the Arsenal bench of course. Assistant manager Steve Bould is already out there ferociously chewing gum.

Today is the first game of Wenger's four-match touchline ban, handed down after he shoved a fourth official and verbally abused the ref in last weekend's 2-1 home victory over Burnley.

Wenger had been sent off for his reaction to Burnley being awarded a stoppage-time penalty, but refused to budge from a comfy spot leaning against the tunnel.

The Gunners still won the match though - courtesy of Alexis Sanchez's 98th-minute spot-kick.
