    Newcastle 2-1 QPR

Alex Smithies with superb reflexes to keep Yoan Gouffran out from close range.

And the goalkeeper follows up to make another vital intervention.

Sharp, impressive build-up play from Newcastle to create the opening.

    Blackburn 0-0 Leeds

It's still goalless at Ewood Park, although there have been one or two flashes in this second half.

Charlie Mulgrew has probably just about come the closest to scoring, attempting to connect with an Elliott Bennett cross at the far post, but Rob Green guides it out of harm's way.

    Newcastle 2-1 QPR

Order is restored and a free-kick is taken in a dangerous area on the left.

The ball goes in, danger cleared. Nothing to see here... for now, anyway.

    Newcastle 2-1 QPR

Sammy Ameobi is right into the thick of it straight away.

He goes down and is clutching his back after Joel Lynch lands studs on his back as they come together in a challenge.

    Tempers flare... we wait.

  5. SUBSTITUTIONpublished at 21:12 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2017

    Newcastle 2-1 QPR

Both sides go to their bench for their first changes of the night.

Rafael Benitez turns to Sammy Ameobi, as he replaces Daryl Murphy.

And for QPR, Ryan Manning makes way for Luke Freeman, who is on for his debut having joined from Bristol City two days earlier.

    Scott Malone

Could that be it at the Pirelli? If it is, Burton will rue a handful of decent missed chances right before this potentially crucial second Fulham goal.

Left-back Scott Malone is the man with it, firing a terrific shot in at the near post to put daylight between the teams.

    Newcastle 2-1 QPR

Darnell Furlong gets a good talking to by referee Tim Robinson after he puts in a ugly and badly times challenge on Matt Ritchie.

    That will leave a mark.

    Newcastle 2-1 QPR

That goal has helped turn the volume up at St James' Park, and has given the home players a lift (obviously).

Newcastle moving with more endeavour and purpose as we approach the hour mark.

And not one short on confidence is Jonjo Shelvey, who forces Alex Smithies into a fine diving save with a curled shot.

    Matt Ritchie

Great little leap from Matt Richie to nod Newcastle back into the lead at the back post. Superb lofted cross from Isaac Hayden to create the goal.

It comes against the run of play, just moments after Jono Shelvey looked to have got away with some afters in a challenge upfield.

And moments before that little drama, Karl Darlow was at the other end denying a low shot from Pawel Wszolek!

IT IS ALL HAPPENING RIGHT NOW.

Burton 0-1 Fulham, Blackburn 0-0 Leeds

Fulham think they might just have doubled their advantage against Burton, but Chris Martin's strike is ruled out for offside. Well offside, by all accounts.

No chances to tell you about at Blackburn - although it is worth telling you about the incredible 6,402 fans Leeds have taken across the Pennines. Amazing support, it must be said.

    Newcastle 1-1 QPR

Oh, it looked on like Donkey Kong there for QPR.

Massimo Luongo on the ball, running at the defence with Jamie Mackie floating out to the right.

The pass is poor and in the end, Luongo twists and turns and the chance come to nothing.

A mix of views here (Sheffield Wednesday's window good, Newcastle's apparently less so)...

Rt. Rev. Liam Reilly: Newcastle's transfer window: minus 10/10. Not only did we not get a replacement for Mitrovic, Mitrovic is still here.

Both sides poking and prodding for weaknesses early on.

Newcastle's Jonjo Shelvey with a wonderfully placed corner to the back post, Ciaran Clark is there but the defender heads over.

GOAL: Burton 0-1 Fulhampublished at 20:48 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2017

    Stefan Johansen

... And, oh my word, we have our first second-half goal already!

Stefan Johansen is the man with it for Fulham, sweeping the in-form Cottagers ahead at the Pirelli Stadium with a really fine finish from the edge of the area.

It wasn't quite as quick as Jonjo Shelvey's opener for Newcastle in the first period, but it's still pretty speedy!

  19. Rhodes moves to Wednesday - on Wednesdaypublished at 20:45 Greenwich Mean Time 1 February 2017

One transfer that looked increasingly like it may not quite get over the line was Jordan Rhodes' proposed move to Sheffield Wednesday, with the Owls reportedly trying to bring the striker in for £10m.

The EFL met this morning to discuss the ins and outs of the deal - and, as it happens, the 26-year-old's transfer went through as a loan just prior to the deadline, with the switch to be made permanent in the summer.

Rhodes scored six goals in 24 league appearances for Boro after joining from Blackburn for £9m in January 2016.

The EFL was party to some of the biggest transfers on transfer deadline day thanks to Scott Hogan's move from Brentford to Aston Villa, Matty Taylor's transfer to Bristol City and Wigan's Yanic Wildschut joining Norwich.

Hogan was involved in one of the longest-running transfer sagas of January, but Villa finally got their man for a fee that could rise to £12m - following a chastening defeat by the striker's old club on Tuesday.

Taylor may not want to venture out in one half of Bristol any time soon, having swapped Bristol Rovers for Bristol City today. City's #WelcomeToBristol hashtag went town a treat with Gasheads.

And, after handing in a transfer request at Wigan, Wildschut got his desire - a move to Championship rivals Norwich City for a fee believed to be around £7m.
