Very few predicted Barnsley to be in the mix for the Championship play-offs with 14 matches remaining, but the Tykes continue to go against all expectations.

Tuesday's 3-1 win at Aston Villa was arguably their most impressive result of a memorable season and a victory over Brighton today could take Paul Heckingbottom's side within three points of the top six - if other results go their way.

  2. Hughton's milestonepublished at 14:42 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2017

    Barnsley v Brighton (15:00 GMT)

Incidentally, it's Chris Hughton's 100th league game as Brighton manager today.

A victory at Barnsley would be his 50th, which we're fairly sure would give him a win percentage of 50%.

Impressive maths from your live text commentary team.

Brighton manager Chris Hughton conceded that his side are enduring a "difficult period" and, on current form, he has every reason to be concerned.

The Seagulls were top of the Championship and 11 points clear of third place following their win over Cardiff on 24 January.

Since then, they've dropped to second and taken only five points from four league games, meaning the gap to in-form Huddersfield in third is now only four points.

Here's Brendon's report of Bristol City's 8-2 win over Walsall in May 2015 which we told you about earlier.

It was one crazy game, which also included a centre-back scoring a hat-trick (one of Aden Flint's goals was a rabona as well) and City lifting the League One title at full-time.

  5. League Two previewpublished at 14:35 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2017

It's a similar story in League Two as leaders Doncaster Rovers host Luton Town, who are just outside the automatic promotion places.

At the bottom, Leyton Orient picked up a huge win at Plymouth on Tuesday and they face Notts County, one of their biggest relegation rivals, in east London today.

It could be a defining day at the top of League One, with the division's top two clubs facing each other at Bramall Lane.

Sheffield United are five points clear of second-placed Scunthorpe, but the Blades have played a game more than their closest promotion challengers.

Bolton and Fleetwood are among the clubs waiting to pounce if either of the top two slip up in the closing weeks of the season.

Forgive us for putting our EFL build-up on hold for a couple of minutes there. But a non-league side beating a Premier League club doesn't happen often.

A non-league side getting to the last eight of the FA Cup happens even less frequently.

What a day for Lincoln City.

Speaking of FA Cup shocks, Matt Smith starts up front for QPR against Birmingham today, and it could all have been so different for him without the FA Cup.

Back in 2013, striker Smith was playing in League One for Oldham Athletic. Most of his career to that point had been spent in non-league football while studying for a university degree.

Click on the play button below to see how Smith's life and career was changed by his moment of FA Cup glory - the day his goals knocked out Premier League giants Liverpool.

It's FA Cup fifth-round day and the first of today's five ties is close to completion, with National League leaders Lincoln still 0-0 at Premier League club Burnley. What a result that would be for the Imps.

That got us thinking about the games we've been to when goals have come along all at once.

Our best? Josh seems to evaded any goalfests over the years, Phil's highest is a 4-4 draw, while Brendon was lucky enough to watch his team win 8-2. Unfortunately for him, he also had to write a concise match report on it.

  18. Goals, goals, goalspublished at 14:05 Greenwich Mean Time 18 February 2017

It's been a goal-laden week in the English Football League, and particularly in the Championship, where many clubs have been filling their boots.

There were 37 goals in last Saturday's 11 second-tier games, which was a record high for a day of Championship action this season.

That record lasted all of three days, as 42 goals went in on Tuesday.

In the week that England appointed a new Test cricket captain, the EFL decided to get in on the act by reaching their own type of century on Tuesday.

There was more than love in the air on Valentine's Day as the 35 games played in the Championship, League One and League Two produced exactly 100 goals.

Is it too much to ask to expect something similar today?

Welcome to BBC Sport's live text coverage of Saturday's action - we'll have team news from our seven Championship games in the next 20 minutes.
