It's been more than three years since Burton Albion boss Nigel Clough was sacked as Derby County manager, yet tonight will be the first time he has returned to Pride Park.

Sacked by the Rams in September 2013, Clough now leads a Brewers side desperate to build on Saturday's 2-1 win over Norwich and move further clear of the relegation zone.

Derby conceded a two-goal lead to lose 4-3 against Cardiff a week ago as their play-off hopes continue to fade, with the Rams now 11 points outside the top six.

  2. Reading showing promotion formpublished at 19:11 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Huddersfield v Reading (19:45 GMT)

Unbeaten in six games and with a chance to move within five points of the top two - could this be the year Reading return to the Premier League?

It's been four years since they were last in the top flight, but under former Dutch international Jaap Stam, the Royals are in the thick of the promotion hunt.

Reading will be hoping to complete a double over their opponents tonight, having earned a 1-0 win at the Madejski Stadium when the two sides met for the first time back in September.

  3. Huddersfield try to avoid FA Cup hangoverpublished at 19:07 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

The big games are coming thick and fast for David Wagner's high-flying Huddersfield at the moment.

Town come into tonight's game on the back of a 0-0 draw with Pep Guardiola's Manchester City in the FA Cup fifth round, and tonight's opponents, Reading, will prove no pushovers.

With fellow play-off hopefuls Barnsley, the replay at Manchester City and the visit of leaders Newcastle all coming up within the next two weeks, the Terriers' promotion credentials will be tested to the limit.

TimDYo: Anyone who comes in at Blackburn will have to be able to work with absent funds and absent owners. We need a motivator and a miracle.

Matt Fuery: I wish Venkys would stop blaming their ineptitude on managers, time to sell up and move on, 7 gone in 7 years? Who'd even want to come?

  7. 'Poisoned chalice'published at 18:55 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

More reaction to Owen Coyle's departure from Blackburn Rovers from the club's record goalscorer Simon Garner, speaking to BBC Radio Lancashire...

"Look how many managers there have been lately – they’ve been promised things and they never materialise," said Garner.

"It’s a poisoned chalice to manage Blackburn Rovers at the moment.

"It’s a results business and we haven’t won enough games. The manager takes responsibility. I think it was the right time to sack him."

  8. Manager Coyle leaves Blackburnpublished at 18:51 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

Blackburn are the 10th Championship club to make a managerial change since the start of the 2016-17 season.

We made the video below in August, which focused on the nine new bosses beginning reigns at second-tier clubs this season.

Of those nine, only Leeds' Garry Monk and Reading's Jaap Stam remain in their positions.

  9. 'It's an unbelievable situation'published at 18:48 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Chris Sutton
Ex-Blackburn striker on BBC Radio Lancashire

I can’t say I’m overly surprised by it.

It’s not essentially the issue with the manager, it’s the issue with the owners. That’s the bigger issue. The fact they don’t communicate with the fans is the biggest issue.

If they communicated in any way, shape or form, we might have an understanding of what they are thinking.

They’ve sold all of their best players, got good money in and haven’t replaced them – it’s an unbelievable situation.

Blackburn are in freefall, the supporters are seeing all of their best players sold, money is coming in, hardly any investment is made and they are quite right to ask what is going on.

  13. Rovers 'can ill afford relegation'published at 18:38 Greenwich Mean Time 21 February 2017

    Andy Bayes
    BBC Radio Lancashire

Owen Coyle's appointment was never going to be a success in the eyes of the supporters. The abuse from the travelling support directed at him in the recent draw with Rotherham was vociferous and I understand that his position was very much hanging in the balance from then on.

Coyle can rightly claim that he wasn't backed in terms of budget. He was given £250,000 to spend in the summer while he recouped in excess of £10m, and the January transfer window saw him frustrated that the club failed to land his list of potential targets.

The fact that Rovers haven't been higher than 20th all season is the reason behind his departure. Financially they can ill afford relegation to League One, and whoever comes in has 15 games to save them.

The club are now looking to appoint a seventh permanent manager since the takeover of the club by Venky's in November 2010.
